Octoroks are an iconic Legend of Zelda enemy who has again returned in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. These creatures, known for their underground burrowing and rock-spewing antics, have a new purpose in this installment. Instead of being just mere nuisances, they also offer a way to repair Link's weapons and shields—a welcome improvement for dealing with the frustrating weapon durability mechanic introduced in Breath of the Wild.

This trick involves tracking down Rock Octorok enemies, which can be hard to notice as they are disguised by the large rock on their heads when submerged underground. Once emerged, they will aggressively launch rocks at Link until he gets very close, so they should be approached with caution. This guide outlines the most convenient and accessible locations where the helpful yet bothersome Rock Octorok can be found in Tears of the Kingdom.

Where to Find Rock Octoroks in Tears of the Kingdom

There are multiple locations in which Rock Octoroks can be found in Tears of the Kingdom. A single Rock Octorok can repair only one weapon or shield, so it may be necessary for Link to hunt out multiple of these enemies or wait for a Blood Moon for them to respawn. The majority of Hyrule’s Rock Octorok population can be found on the many cliffs and peaks of the Eldin Mountains, around Death Mountain and Goron City.

To easily reach this area, players can teleport to the Sitsum Shrine at the peak of Death Mountain and use their paraglider to reach the many ledges below where Rock Octoroks can be found. Additionally, the Marakugac Shrine, located near Goron City, is another great location for fast travel, as there are multiple Rock Octoroks to be found at that altitude.

Rock Octoroks are stationary enemies that will generally sit idle, above ground, until they notice Link. Once they are locked on, they will fire large boulders at Link unless he gets close enough to them to cause them to submerge. Link will have to get close to the Rock Octorok in order to drop a weapon to be repaired, so the player will want to be cautious in avoiding the large rocks they will shoot on their way to melee range.

Below is a list of known, confirmed locations of Rock Octorok spawns in the Eldin Canyon and Eldin Mountains regions in northeastern Hyrule. Rock Octoroks can be encountered in other mountainous regions, but this area is where the highest concentration of this enemy can be found. This is extremely helpful if the player has multiple weapons they wish to repair.
