One Zelda fan has figured out a way to re-create the ice powers from Breath of the Wild in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. As Link once again needs to make his way around the kingdom of Hyrule in order to save it, he's gathered a few new abilities and even a new arm. However, the powers that players had gathered in the first game are nowhere to be found, meaning that fans will have to use new tactics in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.

This has led to some disappointment from players as the Sheikah slate runes were rather favored among Breath of the Wild fans, and they've been more or less discarded for similar yet different abilities such as Recall and Ultrahand. However, on the other side of things, the new features are very much adored by players since they've been enjoying their makeshift vehicles and rafts, and one fan has even managed to make a new version of Link's ice powers.

A player known as Ikani on Reddit has figured out that if Link shoots an ice arrow at a body of water, it creates a small ice platform where the arrow lands. However, fans can then use the Ultrahand ability to raise the icy block into the air and lower it back down to use Tears of the Kingdom's new Recall ability to lift Link to places he can't normally reach.

In the comments, other fans are offering even more tips and tricks, such as that after the first platform is made, fusing ice onto a weapon can be used to make even more ice for bridges to run on water with. Those that have tried combining the two methods have said that it works just like the Cryonis rune did, which means those who miss Link's icy platforms should give it a try.

TOTK has certainly broken the expectations for what's possible with open-world games, just like Breath of the Wild did six year ago. Fans are discovering something new they can do in the game each and every day, just like how another fan found out a way to quickly gather apples in Tears of the Kingdom with the Autobuild ability.

Gamers everywhere are having fun with what these new abilities offer, even if it means saying goodbyes to the runes in Breath of the Wild. The way players have been able to make all kinds of different things has definitely been a highlight that has left fans laughing together, even if it means sacrificing a few Koroks in Tears of the Kingdom. It's safe to say that TOTK's freedom in embracing creativity will keep fans talking about the game for quite some time.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom was released on May 12, 2023, and is available exclusively for the Nintendo Switch.
