The director of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, Hidemaro Fujibayashi, could be already planning a sequel to the saga. After a successful launch, some fans are already eager for more, and a few interviews hint at the possibility of a Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom sequel.Tears of the Kingdom was recently released, and it’s already a critical success. So far, the new Zelda game has managed to get similar review scores to Breath of the Wild, which was also a major hit, both financially and critically. Most reviews currently praise the game’s emergent gameplay, vast open world to explore at the leisure of the player, and several new mechanics, which allow gamers to get very new takes on a somewhat similar experience.RELATED: Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Producer Reveals How Many Times He Has Beaten the GameRecent declarations from several interviews indicate that Hidemaro Fujibayashi has quite a few ideas for a possible Tears of the Kingdom sequel. This story was originally spotted by Games Radar, which connected the dots between a few different interviews. The most notable declaration regarding a new Zelda appears during Fujibayashi’s interview with The New York Times. In it, the director hinted that he could already have plans for the next Zelda game and also teased more content regarding Zelda’s main villain Ganondorf in the future.

That’s not all, though. In an interview with Kotaku, Fujibayashi revealed that the team had several ideas that unfortunately were not able to be put in the final version of Tears of the Kingdom. However, he could not talk more about them, as they could ruin the surprise of fans in the future. Similarly, the series producer Eiji Aonuma commented about the possibility of a playable Zelda in an interview with Vanity Fair, which would add to the possibility of a new game coming up in the future. However, in any case, it’s hard to tell if these ideas and plans have actually turned into any actual projects or not yet. Nintendo will be obviously focused on still improving the experience of the current Zelda for the next few months, and a full-fledged sequel won’t be released for a while.

Obviously, most gamers will spend dozens if not hundreds of hours exploring Tears of the Kingdom before even starting to think about a new sequel. One speedrunner, however, took the opposite route, beating the new Zelda in only 94 minutes. They exploited several glitches and managed to create an amazing video showing their prowess in taking shortcuts.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is available for the Nintendo Switch.
