A particularly creative player in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom has crafted the iconic Metal Gear REX using the game's "Ultrahand" ability. Both Breath of the Wild and its recently released sequel have been no strangers to astounding examples of players' creativity and unique methods of using the game's mechanics. From special tricks to help make tasks like the Korok rock puzzles easier to tips for surviving powerful attacks, many players have looked to push the game to its limits. Now, one of the game's new mechanics has sparked a fantastic creation.The Ultrahand ability acquired early in Tears of the Kingdom has been one of the greatest sources of inspiration for many Zelda players. Ultrahand allows players to fuse nearly any object they can find within the game's wilderness together to make different unique creations, made even more potent with the new Zonai devices. Player creations have seen Tears of the Kingdom players soar through the skies on airplanes and create colossal machines to defeat enemies. The towering mecha uses several of the game's Zonai devices including fans, carts, and cannons to capture the look of the recognizable machine. The poster would also later upload a video showing the mech in action, turning on the devices and causing the cannon at the mech's tip to begin firing. However, the colossal machine did not appear to be able to move on its own.

The Metal Gear REX tribute comes as a timely homage to the Metal Gear Solid franchise, following recent announcements during Wednesday's PlayStation Showcase. During the broadcast, Sony would reveal not only a compilation of the first three Metal Gear Solid titles but also a remake of Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater. A release date was not confirmed for the remake with the compilation set to launch later this year.

Metal Gear REX's introduction to Tears of the Kingdom uses several parts of one of the most popular additions to the game within its structure. The game's Zonai devices feature several new tools for transportation around Hyrule including wheels, fans, and rockets among others. Vehicles have been a particular focus of Tears of the Kingdom players with one even creating a fully functional TIE Fighter from Star Wars. The adaptation of Metal Gear REX into the newest Zelda game shows the creative potential of Tears of the Kingdom's new mechanics.
