The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom continues a bunch of storylines from the previous game after years have gone by in its version of Hyrule. Players get to see what's happened to their most beloved characters from Breath of the Wild, and in Tarrey Town – which was practically financed and produced entirely by Link – we get to see how far Hudson Construction has come.

As it turns out, Hudson and his Gerudo wife Rhondson are doing fantastically in Tears of the Kingdom. Tarrey Town is doing great, too, and has turned into a bustling corner of the world with its own railway and vehicle testing area. As it turns out, Hudson and Rhondson had a child, Mattison. Here, Link is given a quest to help Mattison find her independence and leave home on a journey Gerudo vai traditionally make.

First, Find Tarrey Town And Speak To Hudson and Rhondson

Tarrey Town is found in Hyrule's northeast Akkala Highlands region and can be easily found on the map without even finding the nearby Ulri Mountain Skyview Tower. Look to the northeast for a spiral-shaped coastal formation, and Tarrey Town is located directly to the southwest of this spiral in the middle of a lake – its coordinates are (4008, 1617, 0127).

It looks a lot different than it did in Breath of the Wild, but the Hudson Construction Company is still run by Hudson and his wife Rhondson. Players can find them talking together just outside of their house. Approach them and talk to the two, then talk to Hudson.

He reveals that their daughter – Mattison – is learning the traditional ways of Gerudo vai and plans to make a pilgrimage to Gerudo Village. To help ease this massive undertaking for such a young person, Hudson asks Link to keep her company as she makes preparations to leave.

Find Mattison In Her Room On The Second Floor

Hudson will ask Link to find Mattison and spend some time with her before she leaves Tarrey Town and makes the long journey across Hyrule to the Gerudo Desert. She is found on the second floor of her family's home, where Link finds her practicing the Gerudo language. After speaking to her for a while, Link can follow her downstairs to the center of Tarrey Town, where she quizzes an older couple on the Gerudo language.

Mattison will ask what the word Granny translates to in Gerudo. At this point in the dialogue, a few options pop up – players who read Mattison's diary will know the answer immediately as it is revealed within its pages. Less nosy players should answer "Vaba," which will conclude the dialogue and see Mattison run over to the town's new railcar.

Block The Rail Guard's Eyes With Planks or Signs

The Tarrey Town railcar is currently under the supervision of a man named Hagie, who doesn't let anyone use the Zonai device-powered railcar without first paying a 20 Rupee fee. It's only a one-time fee, but unfortunately, Link can't buy a pass for other people. Mattison wants to get down to the construction site to talk to her dad Hudson, but Hagie won't let her on. It's up to Link to find a way to block his eyesight.

There are a few ways to do this, but the easiest is to simply use Ultrahand on a nearby wooden board. Rotate it to block his line of sight completely, then tell Mattison that the coast is clear for her to jump on the railcar.

If Link gets too close to the railcar guard while trying to block his view, he will loudly exclaim that he can see what Link is doing, and the screen will fade to black. Keep hidden around a corner while manipulating and placing this wooden board so he isn't any the wiser. Once players figure out how to remove the blockage on the Hudson Construction Co. storage room, a President Hudson sign can be used instead of a wooden board, which stands on its own.

Help Mattison and Hudson Prepare For Her Journey

Once Mattison reaches the construction site, Hudson reveals that he has constructed a special hot air balloon to commemorate his daughter's trip. Hudson laments that he would love to dye it yellow for her, but that requires the use of a plant that was, until recently, thought extinct: Sundelions.

Sundelions grow almost exclusively on Sky Islands, and Hudson needs ten to dye Mattison's hot air balloon yellow. Make sure to save all the Sundelions Link finds throughout the Sky Islands if he doesn't need them himself for cooking and surviving the depths.

Once Link hands them over, a short cutscene and dialogue will play, during which Mattison's escort to the Gerudo Desert arrives. After Hudson and Rhondson sadly say farewell to their daughter as she leaves on her pilgrimage, the quest will be complete.

What Does Completing Mattison's Quest Do?

There are some direct and some indirect rewards for completing Mattison's Independence. At the end of the questline, as thanks for Link's help, both Hudson and Rhondson will gift him a Silver Rupee worth 100 Rupees each, for a total of 200 Rupees hard cash – not bad, but that's not all.

The main benefit to completing this questline is that it makes Hudson less preoccupied, and others around town will be able to use his services for their own endeavors. For example, Kilton recently moved to Tarrey Town, but Hudson has been so busy that he can't help him get settled in properly.

After completing Mattison's Independence, players can return to Kilton to begin the Monster Collection series of quests. After Mattison departs, players can also get more information on how Hudson feels about Mattison's great pilgrimage --he knows she's capable and in good hands.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is available for the Nintendo Switch.
