While the Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is a true sequel to Breath of the Wild in just about every conceivable way, there is also a lot about the game that hasn't changed. The 'Champion Weapons', for example, are once again able to be crafted once players finish 'fixing' the Regional Phenomena of each race's area (Zora's Domain, Rito's Hebra Mountains, Goron's Eldin Mountain, and the Gerudo Desert).

For the Gerudo specifically, Link can have the Scimitar of the Seven and the Daybreaker Shield crafted for him once Gerudo Town is back on its feet. But, what exactly does this actually entail, and is this weapon actually worth all the effort for Tears of the Kingdom players?

Updated October 26th, 2023 by Jacob Buchalter: Building all the Legendary Armaments in Tears of the Kingdom takes quite a bit of work. Not only does this process involve gathering some pretty precious materials, but a lot of the artisans who are able to craft these weapons won't be able to do so until Link makes a certain amount of story progress in the area. The Gerudo's Legendary Armaments, the Scimitar of the Seven, and the Daybreaker Shield are items that a lot of TotK players really enjoy using. So, let's go over the specifics of how to make this weapon available to craft as well as what it actually takes to have it made.

Clear The Sand Shroud & Restore Gerudo Town

First off, it sort of goes without saying that players will need to finish the Main Story Quest stuff in the Gerudo Desert first. To do this (spoilers ahead, by the way) means:

#

Step

Explanation

1

Reach Gerudo Town

Link must find his way through the Sand Shroud.

2

Enter the Gerudo Shelter

The Gerudo Shelter is off-limits for Voe, find a way in somehow.

3

Meet with Riju

After exploring the Gerudo Shelter, find Riju training on her own and meet with her.

4

Help Riju Defend Gerudo Town

Work with the other Gerudo as well as Riju to defend the town from invading Gibdo.

5

Resurface the Lightning Temple

Find, reveal, and activate the three beacons that eventually bring the Lightning Temple up from beneath the surface.

6

Explore the Lightning Temple

Explore the resurfaced Lightning Temple with Riju, clear all its puzzles, and reach the end.

7

Defeat Queen Gibdo

At the end of the Temple is the main boss of the area, Queen Gibdo. Link must defeat it to clear the Sand Shroud once and for all.

8

Receive Riju's Vow

After all is said and done, return to Gerudo Town and receive Riju's Solemn Vow to come to Link's aid in the fight against Ganondorf.

After all of this is said and done, there's just one step left that players have left to before unlocking the way to get the Scimitar of the Seven (and Daybreaker), saving the missing owner of the Jewelry Shop named Isha. Technically, players can save Isha either before or after finishing the 'Riju of Gerudo Town' Questline. However, most players didn't really explore the Gerudo Desert while the Sand Shroud was still around, and the few who did have to be very lucky to accidentally 'stumble' into where Isha is trapped.

Save Isha From The Molduga

Players who choose to go after Isha after the main Gerudo Questline can accept the quest to find her, called 'The Missing Owner', from her co-worker Cara, another Gerudo who works alongside Isha at the Jewelry Shop.

However, actually finding where Isha went takes a bit. To cut down on the time players will need to search for her, simply head westward from Gerudo Town until Link reaches the Toruma Dunes region. From here, the smoke from Isha's campfire should be easy to see as long as players are looking for it. As soon as they get close enough to the outcropping Isha is trapped on, the Molduga circling her rock formation in the sand will then turn its attention to Link (or possibly Link's bait), so be ready for a tough battle. After the Molduga is dead, Isha thanks Link by giving him a Diamond as a reward before heading back home to her Jewelry Shop.

Return To Isha In Gerudo Town

Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom - Talking To Isha In Gerudo Town

After players grab all the drops from the Molduga that was cornering Isha, head back to Gerudo Town and speak to her again outside her jewelry shop (which is also known for having the Amber Earrings). She'll mention that she wants to do something to repay Link for saving her life and offers to use her family's knowledge to craft the legendary Scimitar of the Seven and Daybreaker Shield. However, to do this, Isha needs some pretty rare materials first.

Finding The Necessary Materials For Isha

Zelda Tears of the Kingdom - Isha Mentioning She Has All The Materials

As far as Materials for these Legendary Weapons go, this is the most expensive one as it requires 4 Diamonds, 10 Flint, a Gerudo Scimitar, and a Gerudo Shield to make these 'Arms of the Seven'. In comparison, while not much cheaper, Zora's Lightscale Trident, Goron's Boulder Breaker, and Rito's Great Eagle Bow are all a bit cheaper in terms of material costs.

Now, when originally writing this guide, there were multiple easy-to-execute Duplication Glitches in Tears of the Kingdom. Nowadays (October 2023) there are really only a few complex Duplication methods left in the game. But, for players who don't want to use exploits, there are plenty of other ways to get these Materials without much aggravation

Material 1: Diamonds

Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom - Looking At A Diamond In Goron City

As rare as finding Diamonds seems to be in Tears of the Kingdom, there are actually a lot of avenues to go about farming it. For example, Diamonds can be found by:

Method

Explanation

Cave Spelunking

The act of searching through all the caves in TotK, looking for Ore Deposits with Diamonds inside.

Sensor+

Using Sensor+ to either search for Chests or Ore Deposits directly in the hopes either option will contain Diamonds.

Stone Taluses

Finding and farming Stone Talus spawn locations in the hopes the rocky creature will drop a Diamond (among other Ores) on death.

Dondons

Feeding Luminous Stones to Dondons and then coming back at a later time to see what they've 'made' with their food.

Side Quest & Shrine Rewards

Completing specific Side Quests or Zonai Shrines that are known to have a Diamond as a reward.

Material 2: Flint

Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom - Finding A Diamond From An Ore Deposit

Flint is one of the most abundant Minerals in Tears of the Kingdom alongside Amber and Rock Salt. Most of the time players can't break more than 2 or 3 Ore Deposits in a row without getting some Flint or Rock Salt to pop out. In fact, while using any of the Diamond-hunting methods above, players will almost assuredly find all the Flint they'll need to craft this sword and shield, so they really shouldn't need to dedicate any time to farming Flint specifically.

Material 3: Gerudo Scimitar & Shield

The Gerudo Scimitar and Gerudo Shield are a bit harder to come by than some other Champion Weapons, even more so than Diamonds in certain circumstances. Most reliably, players can find them by hunting the Electric Like Likes found on the ceilings of numerous Ruins across the Gerudo Desert like the West Gerudo Ruins or the Ancient Prison Ruins. These Like Likes will drop Chests on death that seem to randomly pull from a small list of potential regional rewards when opened, a list that also includes either a Gerudo Scimitar or Gerudo Shield.

However, if players are getting unlucky with these drops with no Blood Moon in sight or just want to go for a more reliable method, there are alternative ways to find a Scimitar. Likewise, there are Chests that are guaranteed to have a Gerudo Shield, such as the Chest in the northwest corner of Gerudo town, in the corner diagonal to the Sand Seal Rental Shop, or even the Chest in the fourth of the twelve Ancient Altar Ruins Caves.

How To Remake A Broken Scimitar & Daybreaker

Zelda Tears of the Kingdom - Isha Explaining How Remaking The Scimitar And Daybreaker Works

After bringing all these supplies back to Isha, she immediately crafts them for Link and hands the two Legendary Armaments to him. She also mentions that, if broken, she can easily remake the Scimitar of the Seven and Daybreaker, but will require the same Material cost of the Scimitar, Shield, 10 Flint, and 4 Diamonds to do so. It's a bit ridiculous that the game asks for the same supplies every time, but that's just how it goes.

Additionally, Isha apparently can't craft multiple copies of this Scimitar and Shield at once, so Link will need to break them in order to replace them (so don't lose them/drop them somewhere randomly).

How To 'Repair' Both Of Them

All that said, if players don't want to go hunting for all those Materials again and would rather just repair the SotS and Daybreaker instead, then look no further. To do so, they'll need to use an in-game weapon repair method that everyone has been basically abusing since it was originally found around the time the game first came out.

This method involves finding a Rock Octorok in the Eldin Mountains, of which there will be plenty to find. The overall 'favorite spot' seems to be right next to the Momosik Shrine on the northeast side of Death Mountain. To repair any standard weapon with this Octorok, simply walk up to it, drop the weapon on the ground, and walk away so that the Octorok sucks the weapon up to spit back out at Link. In doing so, the Octorok should briefly sparkle before spitting the weapon back out, indicating that it's now fully repaired.

However, as intended by the developers at Nintendo, Rock Octoroks won't repair Champion Weapons and will just spit them back out unaltered. But there's a workaround. If players fuse the Scimitar or Daybreaker to any standard shield and then drop the now-fused shield on the ground, it'll repair both the regular shield and the Legendary Armament.

Then, from here, players just need to head to Tarrey Town and talk to Pelison, a small Goron right next to the General Shop, and pay him 20 Rupees to separate the Shield from the Daybreaker/Scimitar. And just like that, players can fully repair this absurdly powerful Shield/Scimitar without having to find and waste all those Materials each time to remake them entirely.

Are The Scimitar Of The Seven & Daybreaker Shield Worth It?

Now for the final question, are the Daybreaker and Scimitar of the Seven worth the time and Material investment? Well, yes and no. The Scimitar of the Seven is absolutely worth the time adn material investment, as the Strong Fusion Special Trait of the Scimitar (which most Gerudo weapons also have) makes it by far one of the strongest Fused Weapons in the game (depending on what's fused to it).

But the Daybreaker Shield, while unique in its appearance, isn't worth all that investment. It's a pretty good Shield, all things considered, but it doesn't have any sort of 'extra effect' and it's not heads and tails above all the other shields around it in terms of defense or overall durability.

Basically, if players could simply craft only the Scimitar for half the cost, that would easily be the recommended route to go. Sadly, these two items are a package deal, but the Scimitar is still absolutely worth even the cost of covering for the shield, making the Daybreaker sort of just an 'added bonus'.

If (or when) Nintendo eventually patches the game so that the Duplication Glitch (they almost already have) and Rock Octorok Repair methods are no longer viable, then the utility of the Scimitar of the Seven and Daybreaker Shield will drop a bit. But even then, the Scimitar will always be worth crafting in the long run just to have ready at any time if Link runs into a Lynel, Gloom Hands, or other Silver-variant Enemy that'd be too hard to handle otherwise.
