After reaching over a million in sales, Oceanhorn: Monster of Uncharted Seas will be coming to a Nintendo console, along with Android and PlayStation Vita.

Last month, publisher FDG Entertainment released the Zelda-clone game, Oceanhorn: Monster of Uncharted Seas, on Xbox One and PlayStation 4. In just a few weeks, the action-adventure title has sold over a million units between the two consoles, sparking the developer to announce new platforms for the game.

According to FDG, Oceanhorn will soon be coming to Android and “a Nintendo console.” While no further details were provided, the console undoubtedly means either the Wii U or the upcoming Nintendo NX. While it’s possible that the developer could mean the Nintendo 3DS, the use of the word “console” rather than “handheld” has many gamers thinking it’ll be either the Wii U or NX.

While there’s still not much known about the NX, a Nintendo insider recently reported that Nintendo is working to port many Wii U games to NX when it launches in March of 2017. It’s unknown if other Wii U games will be immediately available on the NX, but with Nintendo’s history of offering backward compatibility with its consoles, it’s not a big stretch to expect the gaming giant to allow NX owners to continue playing their Wii U games on the new console. That, along with the news that Nintendo wants Wii U and NX gamers to interact with each other, is enough for Nintendo fans to anticipate some crossover.

With that in mind, it wouldn’t be surprising to see FDG continue its momentum and release Oceanhorn on Wii U sometime in the next couple months. With the holiday season fast approaching, parents and gamers are acutely aware of the most popular titles available, and many developers are hoping to do their top selling during that time.

Then again, FDG may decide to hold off on bringing The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker-inspired title to Wii U and focus primarily on the NX. With the new console now just a few months from launch (if rumors are true), and a full release schedule for triple-A titles until the end of the year, the publisher may decide to hold off until things slow down, and try to capitalize on the excitement surrounding the Nintendo NX.

Oceanhorn is currently available on iOS, PC, Mac, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. In addition to the mystery Nintendo console, developer Cornfox & Bros is also bringing Oceanhorn to the PlayStation Vita.

It will be interesting to see how well Oceanhorn performs on a Nintendo console, considering it’ll be competing directly with The Legend of Zelda. Much of the game’s success is due to the lack of Zelda games on any consoles but Nintendo. Despite that forthcoming challenge, Oceanhorn has already had enough success that the developer announced a sequel in August. Oceanhorn 2: Knights of the Lost Realm will introduce a few changes to the gameplay, while maintaining the colorful world, deep backstory, secrets, and twists that gamers love so much in the first one.

What do you think about Oceanhorn coming to a Nintendo console? Which console do you expect the game to appear?
