To get the sword, Link must complete 11 trades– some of which under a strict time limit– making the sequence tricky to figure out without proper guidance. Here are all the steps to getting the strongest sword in the game in no time.

11 Pocket Egg

In Kakariko Village, Link will meet a woman who raises Cuccos. She will give Link a Pocket Egg that will hatch a Pocket Cucco the following day. Players can wait for the sun to rise the next morning or use the Sun's Song to make it happen quicker. In the north side of the village, there is a house where a sleeping Talon lies. Wake up Talon with the Pocket Cucco and return to the woman for Link's first trade in the sequence, Cojiro.

10 Cojiro

After waking Talon, Link obtains Cojiro, a blue Cucco that needs to be delivered to the woman's punk brother. The brother can be found out in the Lost Woods. To find him, Link has to enter the woods and immediately turn left to find the man leaning against a tree stump. After delivering Cojiro to the brother, he will ask Link to deliver an Odd Mushroom to Granny's Potion Shop back in Kakariko Village.

9 Odd Mushroom

This is the first time limit challenge in the trading sequence, and it definitely is not the last. The Odd Mushroom will go bad in three minutes, so Link has to book it to Granny's Potion Shop within the given time limit. Warping through songs will drain the timer so players have to go on foot.

Here's where Epona first comes in handy, for riding her is the fastest way to make it in time. Link can enter Granny's shop through the entrance by the Death Mountain Trail gate.

8 Odd Potion

Once Link brings the Odd Mushroom to Granny before the timer runs out, he will receive an Odd Potion in exchange. The Odd Potion is to be delivered back to the punk guy back in the Lost Woods. There's no timer on this trade so Link can relax for a moment. Returning to the same spot that the brother was before, Link will encounter not the punk guy but Fado, a girl from Kokiri Forest.

7 Poacher's Saw

Fado will tell Link that the punk guy got lost and became a Stalfos. She will then ask him to leave the Odd Potion in the forest since it was created from the mushrooms that grew there. In exchange, Link can take the Poacher's Saw that the brother left behind. There's no time trial after this so Link can continue on to Gerudo Valley for the next trade in the sequence or explore some more before then.

6 Broken Goron's Sword

Link will deliver the Poacher's Saw to Mutoh in Gerudo Valley, who can be found on the right side of the gorge over the bridge. He will reveal that the saw is his and he needed it to fix his Biggoron tool.

In return for Link giving him the saw, he gives the Hylian a Broken Goron's Sword. The sword can be fixed by Biggoron who can be found all the way at the top of Death Mountain.

5 Prescription

When Link arrives at the top of Death Mountain, he will find the enormous Biggoron. The Goron will tell Link that he would love to fix the sword but he can't see due to ash from a volcanic eruption getting into his eyes. He instructs that eyedrops can be obtained from King Zora and gives Link his prescription so he can fetch it for him from Zora's Domain. Link can hop down the side of the mountain or teleport to his next destination whenever the player has the time. Though getting so close to finally getting Biggoron's Sword is too tempting to put off until later!

4 Eyeball Frog

Link can find King Zora in his throne room up the stairs in Zora's Domain. The king will tell the protagonist that he only has the ingredients for the eye drops and they will need to be delivered to a doctor to be made. The king will give Link an Eyeball Frog and warn him that it has to be delivered fresh in order to work. Now is the time to get running! Link has to head to the Lakeside Laboratory in under three minutes.

As before, teleporting through song will end the challenge so Link has to rely on his speed on foot to make it to the laboratory in three minutes or less, lest the Eyeball Frog spoils.

3 Eye Drops

The fastest way to make it in time is by dropping into the river outside of Zora's Domain and rolling until Link exits the area. Once in Hyrule Field, Link can call for Epona and ride her as fast as possible over to Lake Hylia. The laboratory lies near the entrance to the area.

Once Link runs inside, he can deliver the ingredient to the doctor and have the eyedrops made. The doctor informs Link that the eye drops will not preserve for very long and he will have to get them to Biggoron in just 4 minutes.

2 Claim Check

Hop back on to Epona and rush out to Hyrule Field, running straight to Kokiri Forest then into the Lost Woods. Take the first right then a left and straight through the entrance to Goron City. Link will have to bust through the boulders that lie in the entrance with his bombs to get through this way. He then needs to run up the mountain until he once again reaches Biggoron. He will thank Link for the eye drops and will give him a Claim Check for the Biggoron Sword that can be exchanged for the final sword in a few days.

1 Biggoron's Sword

most frustrating zelda quests

Players can choose to either wait three game days or just play the Sun's Song multiple times until the three days pass. The final trade in the Biggoron's trading sequence is none other than the strongest sword in the game, the Biggoron Sword. The sword is huge and takes two hands to wield, but it won't break. This whole sequence surely does take some time, and sometimes more than one try, but it is totally worth it for those who want the coolest sword in the game!
