One of the most highly anticipated indie games currently in development is Andrew Shouldice's Tunic. The isometric Zelda-like featuring a tiny fox protagonist looks as intriguing as it does nostalgic, hinting at both a deep love of its source material and a Fez-like subversive glee. No interested PC gamers will get another chance to see just what that means. Tunic's publisher, Finji, has once again decided to share Tunic's demo as part of the ongoing LudoNarraCon digital festival.

Tunic's demo will only be available for the duration of the LudoNarraCon festival, which runs from April 23 through the 26. The name references the term ludonarrative, which captures the relationship between storytelling and gameplay. Tunic, which presents a very intuitive form of storytelling, much like the original Zelda, seems an apt fit.

As noted, however, this isn't the first time that Tunic's demo has been made available. Those who may have stumbled onto the demo mid-2020, or during one of Steam's game festivals since, should take note that this is the same demo. It hasn't been expanded on. Odds are, however, that many people may have missed it due to its only being available during brief windows. Now's the time to check out Tunic, as who can say when the demo will be available again.

Tunic itself remains without a tentative release window. Shouldice's social media presence remains starkly quiet as he keeps his nose to the grindstone. The one negative about checking out Tunic's demo is it could build up excitement for a game years away from release. On the other hand, it might be worth it.

Tunic is in development for PC and Xbox.
