While there is no shortage of Zelda titles, one game often remembered fondly by fans is Majora’s Mask. As the next game in the series following the critically and commercially successful Ocarina of Time, Majora’s Mask had a lot of expectations to live up to. Thankfully, it succeeded in the eyes of many gamers, becoming one of the best-selling games in the Zelda franchise. Recently, one talented gamer decided to make fan art based on this classic N64 game.

A Reddit user called itzaspace shared a picture they had made based on Majora’s Mask. Specifically, the Reddit user had decided to make an animated wallpaper using pixel art. While the game was originally a 3D game, this reimagining of the game in 2D worked incredibly well.

In the animated wallpaper shared by itzaspace, Link could be seen resting near a picturesque stream in a pleasant forest next to his horse. Meanwhile, Skull Kid, wearing the terrifying Majora’s Mask, was sitting on a tree stump. One of the highlights of the design was the shafts of light coming through the trees. The artist utilized the animated nature of the wallpaper to allow these lights to increase and decrease in brightness dynamically. Furthermore, the fairies, Tael and Tatl, fluttered in the air nearby. To cap off the scene, the title “The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask” was seen in purple at the top of the image.

Unsurprisingly, this gorgeous artwork featuring Link and Skull Kid from Majora’s Mask caught the attention of numerous members of the Zelda community on Reddit. In only a day, the animated wallpaper has already amassed more than 4.5K upvotes. Many have weighed in on the look of the design, with one gamer enjoying the pixel art style used by itzaspace, noting that it made them want more Zelda games with that type of design. In addition, many users commented that they were anxious to download this wallpaper to use on their own devices.

While this beautiful animated wallpaper based on Majora’s Mask was impressive, it is not the only fan art made by itzaspace. The talented artist has made other wallpapers featuring Link. For instance, they previously created an animated picture that imagined what the title screen for Breath of the Wild would look like with a SNES aesthetic. They have also made wallpapers featuring characters from Skyward Sword and The Windwaker.

It is doubtlessly exciting for many fans to see members of the Zelda community come up with beautiful artwork featuring characters and locations from the iconic series. With Breath of the Wild 2 news expected to be unveiled in the coming months, it will be interesting to see if itzaspace decides to make an animated wallpaper based on that game. Only time will tell, but it will likely impress if they do.

The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask is available now for Nintendo 64 and Switch through the Nintendo Switch Online Expansion Pack, and an enhanced port is available on 3DS.
