A fan looking forward to the upcoming launch of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is releasing daily videos where they cut links off of a paper train. Fans across the world are counting the days until the arrival of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild's sequel, but few have gone so far as to try and build a community around it. That's exactly what one Zelda fan is doing, though.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is tentatively planned for release on May 12, just over three months away from now. It's been nearly six years since the delivery of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, which marked a major structural change for the popular Nintendo franchise. Needless to say, Nintendo made fans wait longer than expected for Tears of the Kingdom. Now that a release date has been confirmed, fans might be a touch more excited than typical, given the wait.

TikTok user sickasfrik is a great example of just how excited fans are for the upcoming release of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. They've transformed their TikTok account into a countdown for the upcoming Zelda game. Each day, they make a video in which they cut a link off of a paper chain that includes links for every day between now and May 12. In addition to cutting off a link, they also ask questions or interact with their followers by talking about Zelda.

In their first post on the subject, made on January 6, sickasfrik explains that their grandmother used to make paper chains for them to count down to special dates. Already having a rough start to 2023, sickasfrik decided to make a chain for something they were looking forward to -- Tears of the Kingdom's release. That way, cutting off a link of paper and looking forward to the game's release made each day that much brighter.

The latest video, posted on Thursday, was a particularly special occasion. It marked the chain shrinking down to double digits. That means there are only 99 days left (or 98 now that it's Friday) before The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom arrives. Less than 100 TikTok videos left to make.

Fans are incredibly excited about The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom's upcoming release, but there are also some worries. Nintendo has yet to fully unveil the game, leading some to stress that Tears of the Kingdom could be delayed further into 2023. Hopefully, sickasfrik won't have to add any more links to their chain, but the TikToks would be fun, nonetheless.
