While E3 2021 is in the books, gamers continue to discuss the many titles revealed during the all-digital E3. There is plenty for gamers to talk about, whether its Arcane's new co-op vampire shooter Redfall to Square Enix's Guardians of the Galaxy. However, it appears The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2 and Elden Ring emerged from E3 2021 as the most talked about games according to Twitter.

The latest metrics on Twitter's Insight blog page highlights the top areas of discussion in the world of gaming and esports. Information ranges from countries discussing gaming the most, the most talked about personalities in esports, and most shared videos on the social media platform. When it came to E3, Twitter said Breath of the Wild 2 and Elden Ring dominated user discussions coming out of the event, followed by Battlefield 2042, Halo: Infinite, and Forza Horizon 5.

Buzz for Elden Ring was almost immediate as the newest trailer debuted at the 2021 Summer Game Fest presentation which helped kick off E3 2021. The newest trailer from Souls series creator Hidetaka Miyazaki and Game of Thrones author George RR Martin closed out the show, offering a fresh look at the newest dark fantasy world From Software has created. While its not entirely clear what the game is about, From Software's marquee, challenging gameplay will be there to greet gamers when they boot it up.

Breath of the Wild 2 was met with similar buzz following the Nintendo Direct on the final day of E3 presentations. Following Link's confrontation with Calamity Ganon in Breath of the Wild, Hyrule is being threatened by a new power which will force Link to find hope across Hyrule and the skies above it. The E3 trailer offered a quick glimpse of these sky realms, taking a page out of Skyward Sword's world design to expand Hyrule in Breath of the Wild 2.

Breath of the Wild 2 and Elden Ring were two of the most anticipated games heading into E3 2021, so its understandable why discussion on Twitter over the two games was so high. Nintendo and From Software have fostered two of, arguably, the most faithful communities out there for Legend of Zelda and From Software-style games thanks to a library of hit games. The lack of information out there heading into E3 likely played a role in this, as well, since little to no information about either game was released to the public before the shows. The only look Nintendo and From Software gave of the games were short teasers shown at E3 2019 before the companies went almost completely radio silent.

Elden Ring is currently scheduled to release on January 21, 2022 for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S. Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2 is currently slated for a 2022 release on Nintendo Switch.
