Gathering materials in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild will often fill out the many hours of a playthrough, especially when trying to complete the laundry list of quests available in the game. However, without finding ways to duplicate materials in Breath of the Wild, it can sometimes take hours to find everything needed to complete any specific side quest.

In the case of one specific material in Breath of the Wild, a player has found an interesting way to quickly farm for wood without having to chop down an entire forest. Instead, it would appear that the trick is to let NPCs do the majority of the work and come collect the materials after the fact.

Shared on the Breath of the Wild subreddit, user MmgLel starts off at the Rito Stable and heads over to the large collections of logs kept to the side and behind the stables. Then it's just a matter of slashing at these logs with any Breath of the Wild weapon in order to be rewarded with a huge pile of wood for the effort. So, instead of having to cut down one of Hyrule's forests in order to grab all the wood a player might need for any given task, they can grab from this stockpile that replenishes over time from the efforts of an NPC.

This method of picking up wood could be especially useful for the sidequests involving Bolson Construction company, such as buying a house for Link or building Breath of the Wild's Terry Town. While the stockpile of wood obtained from clearing out Rito Stable isn't enough to complete these tasks on its own, it could give a player a head start with a decent amount of the material. Also, if a player is ready to start chopping down forests, there should be a load of trees still standing in the area that could reward even more materials for some extra effort.

With the size and scope of Breath of the Wild, it isn't a surprise that some players are still finding new tips and tricks within the game, both on the legitimate side of things and through glitches. Between the more general players like MmgLel and speedrunners looking for the next BLS Slide glitch, the community likely hasn't discovered everything there is to find in Breath of the Wild. Hopefully, this excitement and discovery will continue when Breath of the Wild 2 reshapes this open world of Hyrule.

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is available now for Switch and Wii U.
