Although The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild offered up a huge world chock full of features, Nintendo is planning to expand the game through the release of downloadable content. The first of these DLC packs, known as The Master Trials, will apparently contain some familiar items for long-term fans of the series, with Midna’s Helmet set to become a wearable item.
The news was revealed by Nintendo, which went into more detail about the function of the helmet in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. According to the company, when Link equips Midna’s Helmet in Breath of the Wild, it will add Guardian Resist Up when it comes to Link’s defense. Nintendo has also suggested that players use the helmet when also using Wolf Link, so no doubt there will be some nice surprises in store when utilized together.
In order to get the helmet, however, players will have to ensure that they pick up DLC Pack 1: The Master Trials, which will be available through the purchase of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild‘s Expansion Pass. In the meantime, however, interested players can take a look at the helmet below.
The Master Trials was initially unveiled by Nintendo as part of E3 2017, where the company confirmed DLC Plans for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. The Master Trials DLC will include Master Mode, Hero’s Path, the Travel Medallion, the Korok Mask, and eight new armor items, and will be available from June 30. Meanwhile, a second DLC pack entitled The Champions’ Ballad is currently scheduled for release later in the year.
Some fans of the series might be wondering exactly how Midna’s Helmet could be included in the world, but thankfully those looking for an explanation can turn to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild‘s place in the Legend of Zelda timeline. Since the game is apparently set long after the events of the previous games, it certainly adds lots of flexibility, and could even open the door for other iconic items from the series to make an appearance.
Although there’s not long to wait for The Master Trials to be released, some fans may not want to wait quite that long to get their hands on an item such as Midna’s Helmet. For those that can’t stand the wait, however, there’s always the option of checking out real-world items such as The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild‘s shield.
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is out now for Wii U and Switch.
