In many Zelda games, players are tasked with rounding up lost cuccos, the franchise's version of chickens, and returning them to their pens. Critically-acclaimed The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is no different, with one of the game's side quests tasking Link with finding seven missing cuccos in Kakariko Village.

Finding all the missing cuccos in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is not as difficult as, say, finding the Master Sword, but it's not the easiest side quest in the game either. Some of the cuccos are cleverly hidden, and without knowing where to look, players may waste a great deal of time running around Kakariko Village looking for them. There's also been reports that some cuccos only appear at night and others during the day, but that's unconfirmed at this time.

To start the cucco side quest in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild called "Flown the Coop," players will need to speak with Cado in Kakariko Village. Cado can be found by his chicken coop during the day, sulking about losing seven of his prized birds, or if it's nighttime, he will be standing guard outside of Impa's house.

Before we continue with the locations for all seven of the missing cuccos in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, those that prefer a visual guide should refer to the video below, created by YouTuber Miles Klumpp.

After talking to Cado and starting the side quest, return to the village's entrance to start looking for cuccos. From the village's entrance, start going down the slope to spot the cucco standing on a small hay canopy just over the fence on the left. Pick up the cucco and deliver it to the pen, and then return to the spot where you found it. The second cucco should be visible from here as well, standing in a yard next to some green crops. The third cucco can be found right by the garden where the swift carrots are grown.

The fourth cucco is found down the hill, in the middle of some small trees that are fenced in. There is a woman here named Mellie that protects the trees, and if she sees the protagonist Link jump the fence, she will make him leave before it's possible to collect the cucco. The best way to collect this particular cucco is to do so after five or at nighttime when Mellie is off duty.

The fifth cucco is next to the fire pit in the middle of town, not far from the goddess statue and Impa's house. The sixth one can be found hiding in the tall grass near the shrine that overlooks the village.

After collecting the sixth cucco, return to the spot where Link found it and take note of the roof of the clothing shop. Jump off the cliff here and glide over to the clothing shop's roof using the paraglider to find the final cucco.

With all seven cuccos returned, the Flown the Coop side quest in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild will be complete. However, there's still plenty of other problems to solve in Kakariko Village and the vast open world of Hyrule, so hopefully Link can use his new exploration skills to help complete the game's other side quests and challenges.

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is available now for Wii U and Nintendo Switch.
