The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild's massive world offered gamers plenty to see and do, but Nintendo promised it wasn't done yet. The game's second DLC, The Champions' Ballad, was announced back at E3 2017, and not much has been heard about it since. Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aime has now officially confirmed that Breath of the Wild's DLC is still coming along according to schedule.

Reggie Fils-Aime didn't offer a specific release date for the DLC, still holding to the original release window of the holiday season of 2017. However, while Nintendo is set to release Breath of the Wild's Champions as amiibo on November 10th, The Champions' Ballad DLC may not arrive at the same time as some had previously speculated. Regarding this rumor, Reggie simply stated:

“We will shortly be announcing the date for that content, so I would not lock and load on November 10th.”

Releasing the amiibo ahead of the DLC may make some sense for Nintendo and its fans. Nintendo has had chronic problems offering enough stock for a few years, with overwhelming demand for amiibo, the Nintendo Switch, and the retro Nintendo Classic and SNES Classic consoles leaving many players unhappily empty-handed. One would hope that Nintendo won't make the same mistake with the Champion amiibo, but putting some time between their release and the DLC should give players more time to find a set before the next content drops.

Although the content of The Champions' Ballad is still much of a mystery, it will likely please many to know that it should be released on-time. So far, not much is known except that the story is set to focus on the relationship between the Champions, with some speculating that it will be a follow-up to the main story. With Fils-Aime promising a release date announcement to be made soon, fans can probably look forward to a game trailer revealing the DLC's story and content to be shown alongside it.

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is available now for the Nintendo Switch and Wii U. The Champions' Ballad DLC is set to release during the holiday 2017 season.
