Nintendo has revealed precious little about The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2 ever since it was announced for the Switch at E3 2019. Beyond the E3 2019 teaser trailer for the game, fans know next to nothing about it or what it will entail, which has caused plenty of fake leaks and rumors to hit the internet. The latest Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2 "leak" claims to reveal the game's subtitle, and like most of the other leaks, it's almost certainly fake.

This particular leak stems from a 4chan post, so that should tip people off its legitimacy right away. There have been real Nintendo leaks from 4chan in the past, but the vast majority of the leaks are made up, especially the ones surrounding Nintendo Direct presentations. This latest leak states that Nintendo is going to have a Nintendo Direct on February 3, and that The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2 is going to be one of the featured games.

According to the post, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2's subtitle is going to be Shadows of the Lost and it will be aiming for an October 15, 2021 release date. The leaker says that "little gameplay" will be shown of the game during the Nintendo Direct, but fans can expect more information in June. The leaker included an image that is supposedly a still from the Nintendo Direct presentation showing the new Zelda: Shadows of the Lost logo, but it too is almost certainly fake.

zelda breath of the wild 2 title leak

Nintendo has not made any announcements about a Nintendo Direct presentation in February, and even if it does have one, that doesn't mean it will be showing the new Zelda. That being said, fans should be able to expect some Zelda news this year. After all, 2021 marks The Legend of Zelda franchise's 35th anniversary, and if Nintendo's celebration of Super Mario's anniversary is any indication, there should be plenty for fans to look forward to.

So while this particular leak is likely fake, fans may very well get to play The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2 this year, or at the very least, learn more about it. And maybe if they're lucky, fans will also get their hands on a Zelda collection equivalent to Super Mario 3D All-Stars, but again, Nintendo has so far kept its plans for Zelda's 35th anniversary secret.

For now, Zelda fans should keep an eye out for official information on The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2 from Nintendo and treat any "leaks" like this with a great deal of skepticism.
