The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild sequel has been one of the Nintendo Switch's most highly-anticipated games ever since it was first announced, and now fans know what to call it and when they'll get to play it. The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom will launch exclusively for the Nintendo Switch on May 12, 2023.

Nintendo made the announcement alongside a new trailer for the game. The new trailer for The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom focuses more on the game's sky theme, showing Link skydiving, scaling floating rocks, and jumping on top of a large glider-like machine. The trailer doesn't show a lot of gameplay, but the big takeaway from it is that The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom finally has a name and release date.

The first trailer for the game showed Link and Zelda exploring a dungeon of some kind, coming face to face with a creature that has yet to be named. There are a still a lot of questions about how this might work, but Zelda fans will have to wait for Nintendo to share more information.

Now that The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom has a release date, Zelda fans should be able to expect more information on the ambitious open world game to come at a steadier pace. There are still a lot of questions that need to be answered, and hopefully those answers come sooner rather than later.
