Zachary Levi spoke about his time as Fandral in the Thor films. The actor was cast as the character all the way back in the first movie, but due to a conflict in schedule, the role was given to Josh Dallas. However, Dallas ended up being too busy for the sequel, so Levi was given the role once again, and it turns out Marvel promised him more than the studio delivered.

Levi was one of the cast members of the sequel to Shazam! speaking at Dragon Con 2021, which is a multi-genre pop culture convention that's held in Atlanta, Georgia. The con combines all media including anime, comic books, video games, and movies, to name a few. The event is for anybody who's into pop culture, so obviously Shazam! fits right into this.

Levi went on to speak about his time as Fandral in the Thor sequels. After watching the first movie and seeing how they handled the character, he noticed that Fandral, Hogun, and Volstagg (also known as "The Warriors Three") weren't used as much as the initial pitch suggested they would be. So when coming back from the sequel, Thor: The Dark World, he was promised a lot more screen time with these three characters. However, as fans know, they're almost forgotten and underutilized characters at this point.

Shazam 2 Zachary Levi

Levi said he knew he was going to die in the third Thor movie, but he didn't know he would die without uttering a single word. Fortunately, Levi didn't have any ill will towards Marvel and went on to say, "I died in the Marvel Universe and then I got reborn in the DC Universe. I can’t even tell you how unbelievably cool that is and how grateful I am for that." As many know Zachary Levi currently portrays Shazam in live-action DC films.

It's good to see the actor get a role that warrants more creative freedom, and the lead role at that. This is the comic book actor version of a step-up in terms of being able to dive into a character that requires the usage of their acting skills. The first Shazam! did well enough to warrant a sequel and fans got their look at Helen Mirren as the villain a little while back.

On the flip side, it's a shame for Marvel fans that the three Thor characters never got to live up to their comic potential. Fans would've loved to be able to see these three do damage on the big screen, yet this won't be happening unless they are brought back in the future. Regardless, Marvel Studios is on to different storylines and aims to be bringing in its Fox properties at some point. Hopefully, fans will settle for a Shazam and Black Adam fight instead.
