As the medium has grown and evolved in the public eye over recent years, streaming has quickly generated a number of the biggest stars currently in the internet space, with major names like Dr DisRespect, Ninja, and Pokimane assembling vast online communities. In turn, major streaming platforms like Twitch and Mixer have offered exclusivity contracts to a number of the biggest names in the profession, exchanging large amounts of cash for hugely popular icons.

However, the latest of these acquisitions appears to be one of the biggest yet, with YouTube recently signing a streaming exclusivity deal with Felix Kjellberg, aka, PewDiePie. The insanely popular YouTuber easily stands as the biggest acquisitions the site has secured to date, with PewDiePie's channel boasting some of the most popular content on the entire platform as well as over 104 million subscribers.

It seems Kjellberg is set on streaming a lot more in 2020 as well, with the YouTuber commenting that his new deal will likely lead to far more live broadcasts in the future. "YouTube has been my home for over a decade now and live streaming on the platform feels like a natural fit as I continue to look for new ways to create content and interact with fans worldwide," PewDiePie states. He continues "live streaming is something I'm focusing a lot on in 2020 and beyond, so to be able to partner with YouTube and be at the forefront of new product features is special and exciting for the future."

Despite the YouTuber expressing a desire to stray further from gaming content over the past few years - instead pouring more time into series like "Meme Review" and "LWIAY" - 2019 saw the YouTuber begin to integrate more gameplay videos into his weekly content. His return to Minecraft last year was incredibly popular with fans and, more importantly, with Kjellberg himself, who seemed to find the videos reignited his interest in uploading video game related content. Whether PewDiePie streams video games or something else entirely, it's great to see the personality look towards streaming more content in the coming months.

Alongside PewDiePie, YouTube's list of exclusive streaming partnerships seems to be expanding exponentially, with the site now boasting the likes of Valkyrae, Lachlan, CouRage, LazarBeam, Muselk, and Typical Gamer. No doubt the site is looking to create a streaming community to rival the likes of Twitch and Mixer, which is far from out of the question seeing as YouTube is one of the core platforms for gaming-related content.
