Netflix released a new You season 4 trailer ahead of its February premiere. The new trailer features a unique twist on the stalker drama starring Penn Badgley as Joe Goldberg.

You, which premiered in 2018, stars Badgley (Gossip Girl, Easy A) as Joe, a man whose obsessions often have bloody, violent consequences for the objects of his affection. The first three seasons of the show established it as one of Netflix's most popular series offerings.

According to Netflix's You season 4 trailer, Joe is transplanted across the pond to the UK, where he appears to be trying to lay low after the past two seasons in sunny California, teaching at a university and hanging out with an elite group of wealthy people who have secrets of their own. In his trademark baseball hat and an incognito new beard, Joe navigates an entirely new world where he is free from his violent past. When his new friends begin dropping dead under mysterious circumstances, Joe finds he is now the prey of a stalker himself. While the You season 3 ending does show him pursuing his past obsession, Marienne, to Paris, the season 4 trailer reveals a confrontation between the two and a potential new love interest/obsession for Joe.

You has been praised for Badgley's performance in previous seasons, which vacillates between the terrifying and the slightly endearing, and that of Victoria Pedretti, who played Joe's murderous and jealous wife in earlier seasons. This season, written by Greg Berlanti and Sera Gamble, looks promising, with a cast including Tati Gabrielle as love interest Marienne Bellamy carried over from season 3, who flees California after discovering Joe's crimes. New cast members include Amy Leigh Hickman, Tilly Keeper, Ed Speleers, Sean Pertwee, Stephen Hagan, Adam James, Ben Wiggins, Allison Pargeter, Eve Austin, Dario Coates and Ozioma Whenu.

The You season 4 trailer promises the same mic of dark humor, voice-over commentary, and steadily increasing tension and violence that has drawn in viewers since the show’s premiere. While the show deals with unhealthy obsessions and stalking, it also has threads of class dynamics woven throughout, which look to be in play in season 4, particularly in the gap between Joe and his blue-collar upbringing and the wealthy group of elites he lands in with.

You season 4, part 1, will debut on Netflix on February 9th, 2023, while part 2 is set to drop on March 9th, 2023.
