The Yakuza series has easily become Sega's most influential series after Sonic the Hedgehog, making it unsurprising to see that fans are excited to see if the developer will be continuing the trend of Kiwami remakes with Yakuza 3. With Yakuza: Like a Dragon confirmed for Xbox Series X, players are itching to see exactly what Sega and Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio have in store for the rest of the series.

In response to some of these fan requests, Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio Producer Masayoshi Yokoyama made an announcement in relation to the Yakuza series, particularly to the next Kiwami entry. However, it may be some time before players get their hands on it, or even a chance to see the game, likely due to it still being in fairly early development.

Initially taking to Twitter, Yokoyama simply tweeted out the phrase, "Yakuza Kawami 3. That is not a typo." Responding to the announcement, fans questioned if there would be a demo or preview of some sort shown of at the Tokyo Game Show starting later this month. Unfortunately, it would seem that there are no plans to show of Yakuza Kawami 3 at the upcoming virtual convention, although Sega does have a spot on the official schedule where fans may want to keep an eye on for some subtle hint at what's to come.

Ironically, for English speaking fans relying on Twitter's Google translations, the reveal is mistranslated to say "Yakuza pole 3," which actually would be a bit of a typo. Regardless, this is still huge news for anyone excited to see new ways to play the older content of the series, as well as for new fans to looking catch up through the Yakuza Kiwami selection of HD remakes. It may still be a while until players get a look at the game, but it is at least confirmed to be in development.

Yakuza Kiwami 3 is currently in development.
