Y: The Last Man has got its official trailer for the first season of the live-action adaptation of the DC Comics series which will be showing on FX. Y: The Last Man is a post-apocalyptic story that follows a world where all mammals with the Y chromosome end up dying except for one person: Yorick Brown (played by Ben Schnetzer) as well as his pet monkey, Ampersand.

The story follows Yorick as he travels the world during the struggle to restore society back to its original place while establishing a new world. The survivors are led by Yorick's mother and replacement U.S. President Jennifer Brown (played by Diane Lane).

In the trailer, viewers can see the moment when all of the mammals with a Y-Chromosome die unexpectedly all at the same time. Now the world only has mammals that carry both X chromosomes (which the trailer associates as the women population) which can be seen in the trailer.

Production development began in 2015 while the pilot was filmed in 2018. Official filming started in 2020 but halted due to the Covid-19 pandemic until it was eventually finished and now brought to viewers on FX. The trailer shows survivors adjusting to the new world, factions separating and survivors fighting for their claim of the new world.

The series looks very compelling and the filming gives off a gritty as well as realistic approach to a situation that seems otherwise unlikely. This will be one of the few DC Comics properties that will be seeing live-action releases during the year of 2021. This will be the last one following The Suicide Squad as well as the third season of Titans coming out in August. Fans will get a live-action break until next year when a slew of movies will be released such as The Batman, Black Adam, and The Flash to name a few.

Y: The Last Man will be releasing in September which will make for the perfect timing of a show of this nature. While it's published by DC Comics' Vertigo line, don't expect to see any other DC crossovers in this series. Fans expecting to see Batman's ripped-up cowl or even Wonder Woman making an appearance will no doubt be disappointed as this is its own property for all intents and purposes.

Y: The Last Man will be available on FX on September 13th
