Twitch is one of the largest live streaming companies in the world. As a result, it’s not surprising to see many of the most popular content creators call the platform home. One of those top streamers is none other than Felix “xQc” Lengyel. With tens of thousands of regular viewers, the former Overwatch pro-turned streamer has made an impressive amount of money over the years. Recently, he had some interesting financial advice for his viewership tuning in to one of his regular broadcasts.

During a live stream from December 18, xQc took a break from his regular content to have a serious discussion with his fans about the sources of his earnings. According to the streamer, most of his revenue came from a much different place now compared to in the past. While the majority of his money used to stem from Twitch donations, cheering bits, and subscriptions to his channel, he revealed that wasn’t the case these days. Now, his primary source of income came from corporate sponsorships and “other parties.” When comparing the numbers, he said, “It’s not even close anymore.”

This news that his earnings from corporations significantly outpaced those from his viewership was shocking considering the number of viewers xQc regularly pulled in. With this in mind, the streamer made another unexpected move. He told his viewers that they should think about supporting smaller streamers instead of him. While xQc maintained that he was appreciative of everyone that subscribed to his channel, he encouraged his supporters to consider using their donations and subscriptions to help those less fortunate than himself.

In addition to advising his viewers to support smaller streamers, xQc revealed that he planned to do more for his community. According to the Canadian streamer, he planned to do more giveaways for his fans in the future. He mentioned hosting some kind of show where viewers could win cash as well.

While these comments from xQc were unexpected, this wasn’t the first time that a streamer has suggested that fans donate elsewhere. Previously, Twitch content creator Pokimane decided to remove the donation button from her Twitch channel. In a similar case to xQc, she stated that the majority of her income came from corporate sponsorships. Furthermore, she wished to offer content to her fans for free instead of asking for donations.

It’s nice to see larger streamers support their fellow content creators. Following these intriguing comments from xQc, it will be interesting to see what the future holds for him on Twitch. Time will tell if fans heed his advice and begin donating to smaller Twitch streamers instead.
