Popular Twitch streamer Felix "xqc" Lengyel has collected over 1,000 loot boxes in his years of playing Overwatch, but the game has forcefully opened them while he was away. The former Overwatch pro has tested the upcoming Activision Blizzard sequel during its beta phase, but he wasn't expecting his 1,256 loot boxes to be gone before the release of Overwatch 2.

Many Overwatch fans have collected a plethora of loot boxes over the years as some have already acquired all the cosmetics that they want, and one of these players is former pro xQc. During a recent Twitch stream, xQc was getting ready to practice some Overwatch in preparation for its sequel, which will release next week. Before being able to delve into the various menus to match with other players and compete against an opposing team, a pop-up informed the Twitch livestreamer that his loot boxes had been automatically opened without his knowledge.

The comedic Twitch clip of xQc booting up Overwatch to see his 1,256 loot boxes are gone has been upvoted over 5,000 times since it was posted, and other fans of the hero shooter are discovering their own collections have disappeared. The video begins with xQc in a state of confusion as his "boxes are disappearing," before the message informs him of the change, to which his jaw drops and he exclaims, "I was collecting those." The view leader of Twitch then placed his hands atop his head in complete disbelief before proceeding to play the game that caused his shock.

Overwatch heroes and cosmetics will be carried forward into Overwatch 2, something that is notably related to the opening of all xQc's loot boxes based on what the rest of the pop-up stated. Activision Blizzard is gearing up to release Overwatch 2, and in preparation for it, any loot boxes that a player like xQc has collected will have already been opened. This process may be due to the removal of loot boxes in Overwatch 2 in favor of a battle pass system, and Activision Blizzard warned players a month ago that boxes would be opened in a community update that xQc may not have remembered.

Many xQc fans have expressed their entertainment for his Overwatch loot box clip, while others lamented the fact that streamers like him couldn't open their collection of cosmetics on Twitch ahead of time. Other fans voiced their own frustration with the removal of their Overwatch loot boxes similar to xQc's rant in response to the video, and a few players pointed out that the cosmetics ultimately aren't worth much compared to their Overwatch 2 counterparts.

Overwatch is available now for Nintendo Switch, PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
