Lately, gambling streams have taken over as the new controversial Twitch meta. Many consider the action an immoral one, as gambling can be extremely addictive if left unchecked. The act of advertising it to thousands of viewers that may potentially be influenced to do the same has brought several popular streamers under intense scrutiny, one of which was popular Twitch streamer xQc. The streamer is no stranger to controversy, though xQc's participation in the gambling meta received overwhelming disapproval, including from close friends. After some weeks of reflection, xQc has decided to put an end to his gambling streams for good.

Quite a few of xQc's recent actions have been in the spotlight lately. In addition to xQc's response to the complaints about his gambling streams, he also recently criticized Amouranth's ASMR streams. The content creator isn't known to hold back his opinion on any subject, though the gambling streams were a different story. Not only was xQc streaming to hundreds of thousands of viewers, but the streamer himself was also in just as much danger, as the gambling website he was using couldn't be legally accessed in the U.S.

This did little to slow the Twitch streamer down as he streamed himself gambling anyway, though a third issue began to form. xQc was going as far as to gamble while off-stream, developing his own addiction in the process. That, along with a few missteps as far as how he advertised it have led the content creator to retire his gambling streams.

Starting up his June 28 stream, xQc got straight to the point regarding his stance on gambling streams. Essentially, his addiction to gambling grew to a point that the streamer had long surpassed the portion of the stream reserved only for advertising. In other words, xQc was playing simply because he couldn't stop.

The streamer admitted that while he does genuinely believe that "gamba is content," there are bad things that come with it. The streamer noted that he feels moderately addicted to gambling and he considers himself lucky for getting out when he did. On a final note, xQc expressed hope that anyone he influenced to start gambling would quit and apologized once more for exposing it to so many individuals.

What's interesting is in spite of the massive view count that xQc is known for achieving, it would seem that not many followed in his footsteps. He revealed that 2000 people used his referral link to join the site, with 600 of those being first-timers in regards to it being their first deposit. Still, his decision to quit altogether does a lot to minimize how impactful gambling is to the Twitch community.
