X-Men is a very iconic franchise for many comic book fans. Whenever they make their Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) live-action debut, these characters will be bigger than ever before. However, comments by the head writer of the new X-Men animated series suggest this may happen sooner than later.

A while back it was confirmed that the X-Men is getting an animated series that will continue from where the '90s television series ended. The show, titled X-Men '97, will be bringing back a number of the active original voice talent while also making an effort to capture the vibe that everyone is familiar with. The theme song of the show is easily one of the most iconic intros or openings to a television show ever, so many hope for its return.

Head writer Beau DeMayo was conducting an interview with The Direct, and while nothing was confirmed or denied, many are taking a liking to this specific comment after DeMayo was asked if X-Men '97 will be in the MCU. "The one thing I can say towards that is, I know sometimes we say, No comment,' and it’s like, ‘They’re just being obstinate.’ I’m gonna go with no comment here because part of the surprise will be finding that out when you experience the show," he said. When it comes to the marketing for X-Men '97 potentially teasing that possible MCU connection as a mystery, DeMayo said, "I can’t speak to marketing, but I think there is a degree of—you will be asking that question.”

The world set up by Marvel Studios would be incredibly complimented by the inclusion of the X-Men. If they have any hope of facing off against Galactus, the Avengers will need as much as they can get. The X-Men have members who can do some serious damage to any foe that crosses their path. Hopefully this reality will be sooner rather than later.

Keep in mind all of this can change at any point, as not much is known about X-Men '97 since it hasn't been released yet. Recently, it was confirmed that the higher-ups at Marvel Studios will be going to a retreat to plan out the next few years of the highly popularized superhero franchise and box office juggernaut.

X-Men cemented a legacy during its era while it was owned by Fox. The team also had very popular video games, X-Men comic book storylines, animated shows, and of course toys. When Marvel Studios brings this iconic group back to the big screen, they'll be taken to a whole new level of popularity.

X-Men '97 will be released exclusively on Disney Plus.
