There are various types of quests in Xenoblade Chronicles 3, with some branching into multiple sidequests. Like any other game, those that focus on the main story can easily skip over sidequests, but taking the time to do them doesn't always hurt. As Noah and his group liberate Colonies from the Flame Clock, they'll join forces with special allies called Heroes. Getting a Hero to join may also unlock a sidequest, such as "Teach's Teachers."

This sidequest is a series of tasks that may end up stretching a good duration of Xenoblade Chronicles 3's campaign if players aren't at the right level. One of the first two tasks of "Teach's Teachers" is "Theoretical Knowledge." It doesn't require battling, but answering Taion's questions correctly might be worth it.

Unlocking Teach's Teachers Sidequest

To start this sidequest, players will need to liberate Colony Gamma from the Flame Clock. Since it's impossible to revisit Colony 9 and Colony Gamma in Chapter 2, it'll be necessary to assist Colony 4 first.

For now, follow the Main Objective and make progress through the campaign. Once players start Chapter 3, they'll be able to help Silvercoat Ethel in the Hero Quest: No Want of Courage. This introduces the Supply Drop mechanic of Xenoblade Chronicles 3, in addition to gaining Ethel as a Hero upon completing the quest. With all this completed, here's the next set of requirements to getting the "Teach's Teachers" quest:

  1. Complete the Quest: Going Beyond Power (recommended level: 25). To unlock this, head north of the Gura Flava Camp (Aetia Region) to the Question Mark on the map.
  2. Assist Kyrie of Colony Gamma, then follow the objective marker to Colony Gamma.
  3. Teach will join as a temporary ally here, so his sidequest won't be unlocked just yet. Once again, follow the objective marker (players will also learn the Scree Walking skill).
  4. Defeat Teach and then Consul G. The party will then need to return to Colony Gamma to destroy the Flame Clock. Doing this unlocks Teach as a Hero as well as more sidequests.
  5. Go to the Canteen in Colony Gamma and Discuss the Request From Teach topic to start Teach's Teachers.
  6. Order the meals at the Canteen to register the recipe to Manana's cookbook

On the map, there will be a Magnifying Glass icon in Colony Gamma. Approach the marker, and interact with the bulletin board. At the start of Teach's Teachers, there will only be two Standard Quests: Live Combat Training and Theoretical Knowledge.

The former quest involves fighting a team in Colony Gamma three times in a row, so it's not recommended to do that unless players are around level 27-30. For now, select Theoretical Knowledge.

This will involve Noah assisting Taion by answering a set of questions. Follow the objective markers around Colony Gamma to start "Theoretical Knowledge." It's simple: Answer Taion's questions correctly to complete the sidequest.

The first quiz is about the combat system of Xenoblade Chronicles 3, while the second quiz focuses more on XC3's world. Despite there being several questions each, only three questions per quiz are chosen at random.

If players haven't done so, return to the bulletin board to start Live Combat Training. Keep in mind that doing both of these quests won't complete Teach's Teachers. Once players have reached Chapter 6 and Rank 10 of the Thaumaturge Class with one character, they'll be able to start Teach's Ascension Quest: Shadow of Enmity, the final step in this long sidequest. Don't forget: the recommended level for Teach's Teachers is 57, not 27-30.
