XCOM Chimera Squad has 11 playable Agents for you to fit into your squad, each of which have their own entirely unique abilities (and personalities) to make use of. So much of Chimera Squad comes down to figuring out a squad composition that works best for you, and in order to do that, you're going to have to become familiar with each of the different Agents and what their strengths and weaknesses are.

For this list, let's take a look at Verge; what each of their abilities does, and how to get the most out of them.

10 LEVITATION

One of the abilities that you'll probably be using quite a bit with Verge in the Breaching phase is Levitation. This lifts an enemy into the air, removing their cover bonuses and getting rid of their behaviors. This is especially good if you enter the room to an Aggressive enemy; they can't fire at your squad if they're busy trying to get their feet back on the ground.

9 NEURAL NETWORK

The primary mechanic that most of Verge's abilities revolve around is the Neural Network. Most of the abilities that Verge can use on an enemy puts them in the Neural Network, meaning Verge has a psychic link to them until they die or are knocked unconscious. More enemies on the Neural Network result in a slew of positive effects for Verge, and we'll get into the effects as the list goes on.

8 CROWDSOURCE/COLLAR

At the Field Agent level, Verge has to select between two different abilities: Crowdsource and Collar.

Crowdsource gives Verge +5 Aim and +10 Critical Chance for each enemy on the Neural Network. This highly incentivizes getting as many enemies on the Neural Network as possible quickly; at a certain point (and honestly pretty quickly), Verge will have enough bonus aim that they literally cannot miss.

Crowdsource is an incredible ability, but at the same time, so is Collar. With Collar, enemies in the Neural Network that would be killed are rendered unconscious instead. This is going to result in a lot more Intel for you to make use of throughout the game, resulting in a slew of different benefits.

7 MINDFLAY

Mindflay is another seriously great ability. Activating Mindflay causes Verge to lash out with their mind, which deals damage to every single enemy on the Neural Network. This isn't a staggering amount of damage, but if you've got three of four enemies on that Network, the damage spread between all of them is going to be considerable. Not to mention it deals mental damage, so an enemy with armor is going to take the same amount of damage as an enemy without.

Plus, finishing an enemy with Mindflay renders them unconscious instead of killing them, which is a pretty nice benefit if you chose Crowdsource instead of Collar.

6 NETWORK HEALING/SLAM

At the Senior Agent level, Verge has to select between Network Healing and Slam.

Network Healing is an absolutely nutty perk for players who regularly put a lot of enemies on the Neural Network. At the end of each turn, Verge will heal 1 HP for each enemy on the Network, giving them a constant passive healing bonus throughout the entire fight.

Slam adds a bonus effect to Levitation; instead of the target just landing back on the ground all nice-like, they'll be slammed into the ground, dealing 1-3 damage. While this isn't a useless ability by any means, it's almost impossible for it to compete with Network Healing.

5 PUPPETEER

Puppeteer is Verge's Principal Agent ability. This ability allows Verge the chance to mind control every single enemy that they have on the Neural Network for a short time. This is, quite possibly, the strongest ability in the game, once you realize how to get the most out of it. The great thing about controlling enemies is that you don't have to be careful with them.

Use cover? Why? Just get the best possible angle and shoot from there. Put them in positions where enemies that aren't mind-controlled are going to shoot them, or in a position where they can be easily dealt with once the mind-control wears off.

4 BANISH

Banish is another super-strong ability. Banish allows Verge to fire at an enemy until either the enemy dies, or until they have to reload. Reload right before activating Verge and you have a ton of damage, if not an easy kill, on your hands.

3 STUPOR

Stupor is one of the bread-and-butter abilities for Verge. Stupor causes an enemy to lose at least half of their turn, if not their entire next turn, while also adding them to the Neural Network. This is a great way to limit what the enemy is going to be able to accomplish on their turn while adding another enemy into the network with ease.

2 BATTLE MADNESS

The other bread-and-butter ability for Verge is Battle Madness. This causes an enemy to take one action against another enemy, usually the one in closest proximity to them. Keep in mind that if the enemy has to reload, they're going to do this instead of firing on an enemy, and you'll end up essentially giving them a free action. Regardless, this is another easy way to add an enemy into the Neural Network.

1 OVERALL

Overall, Verge is one of, if not the best, Agent in XCOM Chimera Squad. They have so many abilities that are going to severely limit the enemy team's capabilities, all the way up to taking control of enemies entirely. They have one of the most accurate shots of all of the Agents in the game, and with Network Healing, the survivability of this Agent is through the roof. They are a great addition to any squad combination and will probably end up being one of the most-used Agents throughout your playthrough.
