Since its return to screens in 2014's XCOM: Enemy Unknown, the XCOM franchise has had a great run over the last few years, dropping some great games and following them up with solid DLC. The franchise's most recent mainline entry, XCOM 2, has gradually arrived on nearly every platform available, delivering ports on PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch.

Yet, it seems the minds behind the series weren't done porting the game, with a new announcement revealing that Feral Interactive will be bringing the XCOM 2 Collection to select mobile devices next month. Deploying on iOS on November 5, the game will come complete with all of its corresponding DLC, including the major War of the Chosen expansion pack which debuted back in 2017.

To be precise, the iOS version of the game will contain both the base version of XCOM 2 and its major expansion alongside the Resistance Warrior Pack, the Anarchy's Children Pack, the Shen's Last Gift mission, and the Alien Hunters add-on. It'll cost $24.99 on the iOS app store and will be supported on any iPhone released after the iPhone X, any iPad Pro released after 2017, and any iPad distributed after 2019. The series' patented turn-based strategy style feels like a perfect fit for a portable mobile device, so the port could turn out to be an essential part of any XCOM fan's commute.

For those who didn't get a chance to play XCOM 2 when it launched on PC and consoles, the game centers around a world invaded by aliens, with the player taking on the role of a commander tasked with building an underground resistance group. Players get to create their own squads of personalized soldiers and wage war on the alien threat, embarking on a lengthy and challenging campaign. Its expansion, War of the Chosen, added some huge features to the experience, including the presence of tough, recurring boss battles and three factions the player can ally with.

For those looking for a fresh XCOM experience, Firaxis actually released a new entry in the franchise earlier this year. Titled XCOM: Chimera Squadthe game was a spin-off that experimented with some huge new ideas for the franchise, including a heavier emphasis on story, non-permanent character deaths, and the introduction of a turn-order. The game was ultimately received fairly well, with fans hungry to get their hands on any new XCOM content even if it wasn't a mainline entry. Hopefully, Firaxis is attempting to get as many eyes as possible on XCOM 2 so that the release of XCOM 3 is bigger than ever

XCOM 2 is out now on PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch, with an iOS port slated to release on November 5.
