Microsoft's E3 2015 press conference ended on Monday, but since then, Microsoft has continued to provide E3 coverage through the Xbox Live Events player as a part of their Xbox Daily E3 video series. Hosted by one of the most recognizable figures from Xbox, Major Nelson, these videos have mostly provided additional footage and developer interviews for games announced during Microsoft's well-received press conference.

However, some new information has also been revealed from the Xbox Daily videos. Xbox fans will be happy to know that the Summer of Arcade is returning for the first time on Xbox One, albeit under the new name of Summer Spotlight, later this year. The reason for the name change from Summer of Arcade to Summer Spotlight is simple. With the shift to Xbox One, Microsoft has stopped categorizing games between Xbox Live Arcade and full games, treating all titles as equals. Therefore, the name "Summer of Arcade" wouldn't have really made much sense, hence Summer Spotlight.

During the heyday of the Xbox 360, Microsoft held the annual Summer of Arcade event. Summer of Arcade was designed to highlight digital-only games that may otherwise fly under the radar. Usually, those that purchased all of the games included in the Summer of Arcade would be rewarded with an additional game for free, or another prize, encouraging people to try out new games that they may have otherwise never given the time of day.

Some of the most important Xbox Live Arcade games ever were a part of the Summer of Arcade promotions in the past. Games like BraidShadow ComplexLIMBO, and more were all given proper attention thanks to Microsoft's summer promotion. Summer of Arcade lasted from 2008 to 2013, but was absent in 2014, possibly due to a lack of quality digital-only titles to provide a proper lineup.

This year, with Summer of Arcade returning as Summer Spotlight, Microsoft hopes to highlight a variety of digital games, including indie titles and games published through the ID@Xbox program. Currently, three titles are announced for the inaugural Summer Spotlight, and already there's plenty of variety to be had.

Firstly, the highly anticipated first episode of the King's Quest reboot will be one of the games in the upcoming lineup. The game is set to be an old-school adventure game with platforming elements, and will even feature a remarkable voice cast consisting of Christopher Loyd and Zelda Williams.

Whereas King's Quest will scratch the old-school adventure game itch, SMITE is a different experience entirely. The popular PC MOBA is making its way to Xbox One later this year, marking one of the first major MOBA attempts on console.

Rounding out the first three offerings of the 2015 Summer Spotlight is the latest entry in the Toy Soldiers series, Toy Soldiers: War Chest. The latest game in the series features guest stars such as He-Man and G.I. Joe, with future licensed properties set to be added in the game in the future as well. The inclusion of Toy Soldiers: War Chest in the Xbox Summer Spotlight is fitting, as Toy Soldiers: Cold War headlined the 2011 Summer of Arcade on Xbox 360.

The Summer Spotlight event will most likely kick off in late July or at the beginning of August. Expect the aforementioned games, King's QuestSMITE, and Toy Soldiers: War Chest to be the centerpieces of the Summer Spotlight's debut year, with other titles to be announced at a later date.
