For many gamers, game demos have become somewhat of an antiquity from the old days of gaming. However, when Xbox announced its Xbox Summer Games Fest Demo Event, many players were excited at the prospect of being able to get a taste of multiple unreleased games coming to Xbox. Those same players will be even more excited to hear that these demos are now available a day early.

The idea for an event like this isn't a new one. Back in March, Geoff Keighley announced the return of the Steam Game Festival, designed to showcase "a selection of new and upcoming games." In addition, the Steam Game Festival also brought 40 new game demos to the Steam marketplace for users to enjoy.

Unlike the Steam Game Festival, however, there has been a slow rollout of announcements in regards to what titles players can expect to play demos of during this Xbox event. Some of these demos include Destroy All Humans!, Knight Squad 2, and a game where you play as a cool skateboarding bird with headphones called SkateBIRD.

Perhaps the most exciting aspect of this event is that they are all now available to download. According to True Achievements, the demos were originally supposed to first become available tomorrow on July 21, however, according to the site they are now available a day early. These demos are only available for a limited time though, so interested players should download the ones they are interested in as soon as possible before they are gone on July 27.

This event seems like a wonderful way for Xbox to connect with its audience by showcasing games it believes players will love. The list of games receiving the demo treatment has a wide variety of genres including puzzle games, platformers, roguelites, twin-stick shooters, JRPGs, and party games. It seems like there is a bit of everything for everyone in this event.

While most fans will be satisfied with the selection offered in this demo event, others might be disappointed with the fact that there aren't any AAA or first-party titles available. With Xbox Games Showcase on July 23 focusing exclusively on games like Halo: Infinite, it's easy to see why some players might pass on some of these demos. Hopefully, those same players won't miss out on a game they may actually enjoy.
