So far, Microsoft has put itself in an early lead for the impending next-gen console wars. The company fully revealed the Xbox Series X at The Game Awards in December, showing off what the console looks like and is capable of to anxious fans. Now, the company has nailed down its official tagline for the console, having trademarked the phrase that will undoubtedly be plastered on Xbox merchandise for years to come.

"Power Your Dreams" is Microsoft's chosen slogan this time around, a reference to just how powerful the Xbox Series X will be. It's meant to symbolize that the console is capable of things players have only ever dreamed of. Microsoft filed the trademark late in December, after debuting the slogan on stage at The Game Awards. It's clear that Microsoft likes the slogan quite a bit, as the trademark also covers the phrase being used on clothing and accessories.

Fans will probably see "Power Your Dreams" plastered in plenty of places over the course of 2020. The Xbox Series X is releasing this Holiday, so Microsoft's marketing drive is sure to start ramping up soon. It certainly isn't the worst slogan out there, so Microsoft did make a pretty good choice. The Xbox One's slogan was "Jump Ahead" in the lead up to its launch, and the Xbox One X's was simply "The World's Most Powerful Console," which is far less inventive.

While it may seem unimportant, a console's slogan is a pretty big deal. It, coupled with the Xbox Series X's odd design, demonstrates just what Microsoft has in store for gamers upgrading to next-generation systems. It's easy to see that Microsoft takes the console pretty seriously as a successor to the Xbox One.

It shouldn't be too much longer before both consoles have big demos for players to fawn over. PlayStation revealed an impressive new sales milestone for the PS4 during its CES press conference, which explains why the company has waited so long to fully debut the PlayStation 5. Right now, the company is likely strategizing about its next move, debating when and where to reveal the PS5 to the masses. When it does, the next console war will undoubtedly be on.
