Today is an important day for Microsoft fans: the Xbox Series X/S consoles went live on several sites for preorder, and the console demand led to the Xbox preorders being just as chaotic as the PS5 preorders were almost a week ago. Now, Microsoft is reporting that the demand and pre-order sales demand for its new next-gen console is breaking records.
Many people were able to get their hands on preorders of the Xbox Series X and S today, although some were disappointed and found that the console sold out before they could get their page to load. Unfortunately for many fans, some retailers reported a very limited pre-order supply of the Xbox Series X/S, and while preordering a popular console is always going to be difficult, technical issues and high demand led to many people not having access to ordering.
The Xbox official Twitter posted today that the company is "humbled" by how many people want its product, and congratulates the fans for showing their excitement online and hyping each other up for the Xbox Series X pre-orders. It also throws a bone to those who were disappointed today, and encourages them to contact retailers for updates and get on their mailing notification lists for when future waves of preorders could happen. The tweet also promises more consoles will be available for sale when the Xbox Series X/S officially launches on November 10.
This is clearly a great few days for Microsoft, as not only did it apparently "break records" with the sales demand today (although it did not specify whether these were internal records or overall console preorder records), but it successfully acquired Bethesda in a multi-billion dollar sale. Not only that, but the Xbox Game Pass is blowing up thanks to the Bethesda acquisition, and this is no doubt going to lead to a great quarter for the company in terms of sales.
Many of the comments on the Xbox tweet are people getting hyped up about their successful purchases today, which wouldn't display an accurate proportion of people satisfied or dissatisfied by the pre-orders today, as people who failed to get one are less likely to complain about it on a post about how successful Xbox Series X sales are today. Of course, some people took to the comments to voice their preference for the PS5, but there will always be personal favorites in the console wars.
If people were unable to get their hands on preorders, they can follow Microsoft's advice or simply wait until November 10, which is sure to be just as exciting a day as today was for Xbox fans.
