Recently, Microsoft announced an Xbox Series X feature called quick resume along with a huge amount of other new information about the console, such as the Xbox Series X specs and support for up to 120 FPS.

In a post on Xbox Wire, Xbox boss Phil Spencer confirmed that the Xbox Series X will have "quick resume" which will allow players to "continue multiple games from a suspended state almost instantly." The feature will be able to take players back to "where you were and what you were doing, without waiting through long loading screens."

The Xbox Series X feature is part of Microsoft's larger plan to help people find and get into the games that they want to play much faster than they have with other Xbox consoles. The Xbox Series X will also have next-generation SSD storage, said Spencer, which will allow players to enjoy larger games that look better with no, or much shorter loading screens.

Microsoft has put a huge amount of time and money into helping Xbox Series X gamers find new games, and quick resume will let them jump between them in moments. Xbox services such as Xbox Game Pass have hundreds of games, and while it's not difficult to find a new game and play through it, quick resume allows subscribers to have several games on at once.

There is also the giant backward compatibility feature. Xbox Series X backward compatibility will offer support for thousands of games, which will all be available at launch. Players will be able to choose from Xbox games, Xbox 360 games, and Xbox One games on the new console, but quick resume will mean that fans can jump into their favorites in seconds.

Gamers have said that price will be the most important feature when making the decision between PS5 and Xbox Series X. However, with the PS5 and Xbox Series X rumored to be priced at $500, if one console makes it easier to find a new favorite game than the other, that could potentially put it higher on a gamer's wishlist.

Microsoft will likely have much more to share about these kinds of quality of life features before the Xbox Series X is released. Some of these, such as smart delivery, which will be used by Cyberpunk 2077, have also been confirmed– but if it's part of the company's big Xbox Series X sales plan fans should expect much more.
