Controllers tend to be one of the most customizable video game accessories out there, with a bevy of special designs to give them a unique flair. Those that have been watching the Xbox Twitter account recently may have noticed a sharp red design releasing soon, dubbed the Pulse Red controller. For those interested in the bright red design, the controller is now available.

With a red faceplate, white backplate, and some black accents, the Pulse Red Xbox Series X controller marks one of the first new color patterns the console has seen yet. While it doesn't directly match up with the Xbox Series X's design, the Pulse Red controller is certainly eye catching, which most people are looking for in a new controller.

Those hoping to pickup the Pulse Red controller can do so now directly through the Microsoft store. However, it appears that some retailers still have the controller listed as a pre-order, with the dates varying depending on the website. For instance, Best Buy has the release date listed as February 18, while Amazon has the release date listed as February 23. It isn't entirely clear why that's the case, but those looking to get their hands on the new controller as quickly as possible may want to opt for the Microsoft Store website, as it's offering free 2-3 day shipping.

Keep in mind, the Pulse Red design does come with a retail cost slightly higher than the standard versions, clocking in at $64.99 as opposed to the $59.99 charged for the basic black controller. The $5 jump isn't necessarily a huge increase, but those simply looking for function over style might be turned off due to the price bump. Those that do pick it up, however, are getting one of the boldest designs Xbox has used for a controller yet.

Xbox has made a point of keeping controllers customizable, all the way back to the first few years of the Xbox One, when the company unveiled Xbox Design Lab. The service, which is currently on a hiatus until some point later this year, allows users to create their own custom versions of the Xbox controller, complete with unique color schemes and engravings. It seems that the service was taken down to allow for Xbox Series X controller customization, but there's been no news yet as to when it will be available again. In the meantime, fans looking to add some color to their setup can pick up the Pulse Red controller.
