Yesterday, Sony finally revealed its PS5 controller design. The new controller breaks away from the traditional DualShock that the consoles have used since the beginning and introduces the DualSense with a stunning two toned, black and white design. In response to this, Microsoft has released a new gif featuring the Xbox Series X controller.

The Xbox Series X controller was revealed quite a long time ago, so while there is nothing shown in particular that is new in any way, the timing of the reveal is rather humorous. The tweet was no doubt a direct response to Sony's controller reveal which has fans quite riled up.

While the Xbox Series X controller features a sleek black design, it is very similar to the Xbox One controllers. Although the DualSense is being praised for its departure from tradition, there are just as many detractors to the design as there are fans, with some preferring the familiar style of the Xbox Series X controller.

Sony's new Dual Sense controller reveal has garnered quite a bit of attention, as its numerous features, innovative design, and more seem to be wowing fans of the console. The two tone color choice has even led some fans to ponder whether the actual PS5 design will be white or perhaps two toned to match the controller. By contrast, the Xbox Series X controller reveal wasn't anything particularly special, but it makes sense that Microsoft would want to remind its fans about its controller following the reveal of the DualSense.

The comments on Microsoft's tweet are extremely divisive and prove that the console war seems to extend beyond the actual consoles themselves and even encompasses controller design. Though the paradigms have shifted to a degree with Sony now being the one to mix things up with their design while Microsoft sticks with the tried and true, fans seem to vehemently defend the controller of whatever is their console of choice. Numerous memes and criticisms for both controllers have popped up, poking fun at the Xbox Series X controller's need for batteries or the DualSense controller's similarity to previous Xbox controllers.

Both consoles are set to release during the holiday season this year, and as of yet there is no Coronavirus delay for the PS5 or Xbox Series X. Of course, that is subject to change in the coming months depending on how things progress.
