While the response to Microsoft's July Xbox Games Showcase for the Xbox Series X has been mixed, fans are still excited for Microsoft to share more information about the Xbox Series X and its games. Even more excited to share information is Microsoft, it seems. Phil Spencer recently hinted at the possibility that more Xbox news will be coming sooner rather than later. Specifically, he says that news could be coming in August, leading to speculation of another Xbox showcase event within a month.

The comments from Spencer come via an interview on Friday with Youtuber and influence Justine. Toward the end of the interview, while talking about the Xbox Series X, Spencer says that he's "encouraged to talk more about it." He then follows up on that, saying that it, "should be August," when Xbox will talk more, though Spencer doesn't say it with certainty. He adds that he does, "think it's August," but with enough of a questioning tone that he might be wrong.

To be clear, Spencer doesn't elaborate in any way regarding Xbox's plans for August or otherwise. While his words do imply an organized effort of some kind as opposed to just further interviews, the form of that organized effort isn't clear. Xbox could potentially be doing another Xbox showcase event like this past week, it could do another big Inside Xbox event like in May, or it could be something else entirely.

The Xbox July games showcase has been known about for several months, so any planned August event is likely to be much smaller in comparison. The Xbox July event was officially detailed only in early July, so if there is an August event planned there's still plenty of time to detail it. An early August announcement for a late August event would make sense.

Alternatively, Microsoft could instead participate in another event that isn't being run by Xbox itself. The Gamescom 2020 digital convention will run from August 27 through August 30 and Xbox is confirmed to be a participant. Xbox will provide some sort of content at Gamescom and that's a certainty, which perhaps implies Spencer was talking about something else during his interview.

Early in 2020, Xbox confirmed that it would do month-to-month Xbox Series X reveals. As the pandemic's impact grew, and after the May Inside Xbox event drew surprising criticism, that Xbox 20/20 plan was scaled back. Still, it wouldn't be surprising to see significant more Xbox content going forward. The next event might be in August, or it may not, but Xbox fans should be excited either way.
