Every time a new console generation launches, the new designs are something that fans have to get used to. Fans were surprised by the Xbox Series X when it was officially revealed, even going so far as to compare the console to a refrigerator because of its size and vertical alignment.

Perhaps that makes the Xbox Series X a perfect a choice to compare to something that's bigger on the inside than the outside. That may have been the mindset of one fan who chose to decorate their next-gen Xbox as Doctor Who's iconic Tardis.

Redditor arandomperson7 took to the site to share their Xbox Series X's updated appearance with fellow Xbox fans. The photo shows what looks to be a blue British police box, but in reality, it's the Xbox Series X console with a decal applied over it. It's a fantastic recreation of the original, iconic Doctor Who Tardis. Other than some missing panels where the buttons and disc slot are allowed to peek through the label and a spot for the glowing Xbox icon in the upper corner, it's very difficult to tell it apart from the original design.

To anyone not in the know, the long-running Doctor Who series sees the titular Doctor traveling the universe in their trusty Tardis. The Tardis is a time machine, taking on the appearance of an old-fashioned police box from Britain. While it looks like it's no bigger than a closet, in reality, the interior is practically infinite, far surpassing the external appearance.

Arandomperson7 joked in their post about whether the Tardis could provide enough space for their console to vent. Others chimed in, continuing the joke with Doctor Who lore, talking about things like the Xbox being doomed to break down because of the Tardis' frequent issues over the course of the show, or quoting the Doctor from Doctor Who's 50th anniversary special, "Oh, you've redecorated. I don't like it." The overall reception to the design seems to be very positive, with many asking the OP how they made the redesign.

According to the user, they were able to achieve the look utilizing a decal that's being sold online through a retailer called DecalGirl. Decals like these are designed to be easily added and removed from the console, ensuring that no lasting damage is done to the unit, and making it easy to redecorate as the owner likes. While some users opt to personally paint or otherwise modify their gaming consoles, adding a Xbox Series X decal sticker like this allows fans to quickly and easily personalize their gaming system without requiring artistic skill or permanent alterations.
