With the next generation of Xbox consoles officially out worldwide and breaking sales records, Microsoft has recently acknowledged console shortages and even apologized for not having enough Xbox Series X and S systems for fans to purchase.

The information comes from Xbox boss Phil Spencer, who made an appearance during Twitch's recent GlitchCon event. According to Spencer, the number one request he has been getting lately is for more Xbox Series X and S consoles because it has been difficult for fans to obtain one. Spencer said that the consoles have been built for two months now and have been shipped to stores as quickly as possible, but due to very high Xbox Series X/S demand, the stores have been selling out. As a result, the head of Xbox apologized for that.

Aside from talking about Xbox Series X/S shortages, Spencer took some time to talk about how COVID-19 has been affecting the world, and that he is proud of the team and companies like Sony for releasing new gaming products for the upcoming holiday season. From a general view, seeing how the holiday season is usually busy with people trying to get gifts, securing an Xbox Series X/S may be challenging. In other words, getting an Xbox Series X/S right now can be difficult, but should normalize over time and give everyone a chance.

One important thing that is worth mentioning about the new Xbox consoles is that the Xbox Series X/S are extremely popular. The hype that surrounds brand new consoles is always really high and fans are struggling against one another to secure a console for themselves. On one hand, that shows high interest in a product which drives sales up, but on the other hand, it creates high demand, making the product hard to get. Hopefully, seeing Xbox acknowledge the issue and working hard in getting more consoles out into the market should give eager fans some form of hope.

Although the Xbox Series X/S have proven to be pretty popular, their popularity does not mean that the consoles are flawless. On the contrary, fans have been reporting multiple Xbox Series X/S launch problems from things like app issues to de-synchronization and corrupted display. In other words, it would be best to hold off from purchasing a new Xbox Series X/S console in order to not deal with the launch problems and let the developers release some kind of fixes that take care the issues. Ultimately however, it's all up to the buyer on what they want to do.
