Excitement is building for the next generation of consoles as more details about the Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5 are revealed. The Xbox Series X is boasting impressive specifications yet not everyone is convinced by what they have seen from the console so far and it seems that the unveiling of the game cases for the new console has not helped the situation. Some fans have been quick to critique the game cases and this follows a pattern of disappointment in the visual qualities of both the Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5.

When the PlayStation 5 revealed the appearance of the DualSense fans were quick to cast judgment despite its additional improvements. Equally both consoles have received criticism for their appearance despite the Xbox taking a minimalist approach and the PlayStation going for a bolder look. More recently both sets of fans have been unimpressed with the game case designs for both consoles.

The Xbox Series X game cases have been criticized for being too cluttered with information and this seems to be a valid point. While the case and logo look clean and pleasing underneath are a series of notes about 4k gaming, optimization, and smart delivery. Understandably fans think that this case has fallen at the last hurdle after having a strong initial design. Comments have praised the design for being color-coded in a more pleasing fashion than the PlayStation 5 but equally, fans have been quick to note that the cases look too busy.

At the moment it seems that every gamer has a strong opinion about the next best console, but a lot of players are ignoring some clear positives that are illustrated in these cases. All of the cases list Xbox Series X and Xbox one compatibility and this confirms Microsoft's commitment to give free upgrades on its titles. Furthermore, with gaming increasingly moving to the digital realm many players won't have to interact with cases as much as they did in the past and as a result, this issue may not be a long-term problem.

While it is not to the liking of all fans, the Xbox Series X game box art does deliver positive confirmation fo the features of the console. With this in mind, the quality of games and their performance on the console should manage to sway gamers, even if the case is more crowded than they would like it to be.
