UPDATE: Microsoft has made it official with the below tweet. The original story follows below that.]

There have been many questions regarding the Xbox Series X, and many of them focus on its long-rumored budget-friendly counterpart, the Xbox Series S. Since it’s being designed as a cheaper alternative to the XSX, the biggest question about it has naturally been its price, and now it looks like that question might have finally been answered.

Today has seen one of the biggest rounds of next-gen Xbox leaks yet. With only two months to go before the XSX’s November launch window, a lot of substantial new information has been pouring out from numerous sources across the industry, revealing not just the Xbox Series X’s exact release date but its price too. And if these leaks are to be believed, fans now have a good idea of how the Series S’ price will compare.

Perhaps the biggest reveal from this round of leaks is the first look at what’s supposedly the Series S’ official design, a grayscale rectangle that resembles an Xbox One S with a large circular grill in the top. Second to that, though, is the claim that the Xbox Series S will cost $299 when it launches alongside the XSX on November 10. The rumors go on to suggest that buyers won’t even have to pay all of that up front if they so choose. Both the Series S and XSX will reportedly come with a Xbox All Access financing option, which will let users pay for the consoles over time at a monthly rate of $25 and $35, respectively.

If this is true (and of course this should be taken with a grant of salt for now), then this is a rather surprising turn of events in many ways. Granted, many have agreed that $299 is the ideal price for a budget next-gen console, and in light of what’s known of the Xbox Series S’s unique specs, the math does check out. But it’s still wild to think that a console full of advanced next-gen hardware might cost the same as the Nintendo Switch.

As for the XSX, the latest rumors say that will cost $499 at launch. This would be a definite improvement over the $599 price tag recent leaks have slapped on the Xbox Series X, and just like with the Series S’ price, this would be in keeping with what many consider just right for a higher-end next-gen console.

All in all, these prices are rather promising, but again, nothing’s confirmed until Microsoft officially announces it, which it should do later this month if the hearsay around the internet is to be believed.

The Xbox Series X will launch in November. The Xbox Series S is rumored to launch alongside it on November 10.
