Xbox has posted a meme on Twitter that throws shade at PlayStation trolls who are constantly comment "PlayStation is better" on the company's social media posts. Things like cross-platform play and cross-progression have helped tear down the boundaries between competing consoles, but the companies are still in the midst of stiff competition. Xbox and PlayStation especially still take shots at each other, with PlayStation actively trying to stop Microsoft's acquisition of Activision Blizzard.

Generally speaking, the competing game companies tend to play nice on social media, but that doesn't mean their fans do. PlayStation fans often troll Xbox social media posts and vice versa, talking up their preferred brand and mocking the other's shortcomings. These trolls are ignored most of the time, but Xbox decided to post a meme today calling them out and going viral in the process, earning 44.9 thousand likes, 4,960 retweets, and over 1,000 quote tweets at the time of this writing.

Every Halloween season, memes start popping up about checking Trick-or-Treat candy for bizarre objects. Xbox got in on the fun by posting a Snickers bar with "PlayStation is better" tweets sticking out of it. The caption with the tweet read, "Please check your candy this year!! We found troll posts in ours and they won't stop repeating the same thing over and over." While many responded positively to Xbox's tweet, which is clearly meant to be a joke, others have predictably lashed out against it.

Some have taken to the comments to accuse Xbox itself of saying PlayStation is better as part of its attempts to get the Activision Blizzard acquisition approved. It's true that Microsoft has admitted that PlayStation has a larger market share in gaming than it does, and that's a key part of its argument for the Activision Blizzard approval. Microsoft claims that acquiring Activision Blizzard won't give it in unfair advantage over its competition, but rather, it will put it on a more even-playing field with PlayStation.

Both PlayStation and Nintendo are clearly outpacing Xbox, and they have been for years. The Nintendo Switch is a massive sales success and is well on the way to becoming one of the all-time best-selling consoles. The PS4 dominated its generation and the PS5 is no slouch, either. Xbox has made strides in recent years, repairing the bridges it burned with the initial launch of the Xbox One and creating fan favorite programs like Xbox Game Pass, but it still has a long way to go if it wants to catch up with its competitors.

As this generation marches on, it will be interesting to see if Xbox is ever able to get the top spot in the industry. If the Activision Blizzard acquisition is approved and Call of Duty eventually becomes Xbox-exclusive, it will undoubtedly give it a massive boost.
