Halloween isn't for another six months or so, but that isn't stopping Microsoft from hosting a horror game sale on Xbox One. In recognition of Friday the 13th and the halfway point to Halloween, Microsoft is deeply discounting five Xbox One horror games from April 17 to April 23.

Headlining the sale is Friday the 13th: The Game, the asymmetric multiplayer horror game based on the hit slasher movie franchise. Friday the 13th: The Game earned a somewhat mixed reception when it launched, but it developed a following of dedicated fans nevertheless and continues to receive significant content updates.

Here is a list of the games Microsoft has revealed for the upcoming Xbox One horror game sale, dubbed the Un-Halloween Horror Spectacular Sale:

  • Dead by Daylight: Special Edition - 50% off
  • Friday the 13th: The Game - 60% off
  • Hello Neighbor - 33% off
  • Layers of Fear - 70% off
  • Outlast 2 - 67% off

Out of the games revealed so far, Layers of Fear is getting the biggest discount at 70% off. This should come as no surprise, especially since Layers of Fear was featured as a free Games with Gold game in March 2017, and is currently available through the Xbox Game Pass subscription service as well.

Hardcore horror gaming fans may already have all the games listed here, but that doesn't mean they won't have anything else to look forward to during next week's sale. Exact games weren't named, but Microsoft did tease that more horror gaming titles would be revealed come April 17 when the Un-Halloween Horror Spectacular Sale officially kicks off.

As for what those unrevealed games could be, it seems like the biggest horror games are a no-brainer. That means fans should be able to expect titles like The Evil Within 2 and the various Resident Evil games to be available at a discount next week, though that's just speculation at this time. The full list of discounted games should be revealed on April 17.
