Just last month, the video game peripheral manufactuer Hyperkin officially announced the release window for the long-awaited revival of the Xbox's original "The Duke" controller for Microsoft's Xbox One console. Now, with the controller's availability on the horizon, The Duke just went up for pre-order through the retailer GameStop, with the peripheral set for launch on April 1, 2018.

According to the listing for The Duke on GameStop's site, the Xbox One peripheral will set nostalgic players back $70 in order to get their hands around Hyperkin's incredibly large re-release of the original Xbox controller. The design is basically the same as the original Duke, but this time around, the Xbox “jewel” in the center is actually an OLED screen, which will act as the home button and will play the very first Xbox's boot screen animation.

According to Hyperkin, its version of The Duke will not only be compatible with Xbox One in all of its permutations – that is, Xbox One, Xbox One S, Xbox One X, and so on – but also with PCs. What's more is that on top of its inspiration being taken by the original controller's design, Hyperkin's The Duke peripheral will also include new bumper buttons in order to bring the item up to speed with the current generation.

Bearing all of this in mind, with Xbox fans having shared a collective cry of joy after The Duke's initial reveal, it's safe to say that the best course of action in securing one would be to pre-order the peripheral as soon as possible. After all, there's only so many days left until the controller releases, and considering the rabid response it received when it was confirmed, we wouldn't be surprised if they get snatched up fast.
