As 2020 comes to a close, several storefronts have begun their winter deals, with The Epic Games Store offering players a series of huge discounts and GOG also getting into the holiday spirit with a ton of price reductions of its own. The most recent name to join the fray is Xbox, with the company announcing that it will be holding a two-week-long sale that acts as a countdown to the New Year.

The promotion, simply titled "The Countdown Sale," is live right now, with over 800 games discounted from Xbox's lineup of titles. The sale will end on January 3, so those wanting to ensure they get their hands on some of this year's biggest titles for a fraction of the price will have the entire Christmas period to do so.

As for what's included in the sale, there's a range of good deals to be had across the store. Ubisoft's newest games have dropped in price, with Assassin's Creed Valhalla listed for $44.99, Watch Dogs: Legion up for $29.99, and Immortals: Fenyx Rising available for $40.19. Meanwhile, those shopping for some exclusive games can get their hands on Halo: The Master Chief Collection for $23.99, Forza Horizon 4 for $29.99, and Yakuza: Like a Dragon (which is currently a next-gen Xbox Series X exclusive) for $44.99.

Other recent games to make the cut are Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time which fans can grab for $29.99, Fuser for $38.99, Star Wars Squadrons for $23.99, and Tony Hawk Pro Skater 1 + 2 for $29.99. On top of that, there's also a number of gaming bundles and collections available for a cheap price, including Bioshock: The Collection, which comes in at $9.99, Mafia Trilogy for $44.99, and the Batman Arkham Collection for $11.99. These are merely a small selection of the deals players can find on the marketplace currently, with Xbox discounting hundreds of games just in time for the Christmas season.

With the Xbox Series X allowing players to jump into four generations of games and enjoy them with higher frame rates and better quality, it seems the sale would be a good opportunity for Xbox fans to stock up on some quality titles to play on their newest console. For those who aren't interested in Microsoft's lineup of games, the Epic Games Store is currently running its own Winter sale, with the event also offering 15 days of free games to account holders. Over on the storefront, the likes of Godfall, Red Dead Redemption 2, and Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order have all been discounted, so it's worth a visit for anyone currently in the market for some new PC experiences.
