Every month, Microsoft gives its Xbox Live Gold subscribers four games to claim for their digital libraries, with two titles from the Xbox 360 generation and two Xbox One games to grab. There are exceptions to this rule, as sometimes Microsoft gives away bonus free games. This is the case for May 2022, with Microsoft giving away a whopping three additional games for Xbox Live Gold subscribers to claim for the month of May.
On top of the previously announced Xbox free Games with Gold games for May 2022, Microsoft has added Braid, Cloning Clyde, and Joe Danger 2: The Movie to the mix. Out of these, Braid is easily the most notable, as while it's an old game at this point, it still earned critical acclaim and won numerous awards. In fact, Braid is often pointed to as one of the best indie games ever made, so any Xbox Live Gold subscribers that have never played it have a great opportunity on their hands.
That's not to say that Cloning Clyde and Joe Danger 2: The Movie aren't of interest. Cloning Clyde is an obscure puzzle platformer with 4-player local co-op. It didn't set the world on fire when it first released, but it has a 5-star total rating in the Microsoft Store, and since it's free, anyone interested in the genre or co-op games should definitely consider giving it a shot. Joe Danger 2: The Movie, meanwhile, is a generally well-received platformer developed by Hello Games, the same studio behind No Man's Sky. Removal dates have not been announced for any of the three games at the time of this writing, so subscribers should grab them as soon as possible.
Xbox Free Games With Gold for May 2022

- Hydro Thunder Hurricane (May 1 - May 15)

- The Inner World - The Last Wind Monk (May 16 - June 15)
- Viva Pinata: Party Animals (May 16 - May 31)
- Yoku's Island Express (May 1 - May 31)
These three free games join the previously announced Xbox free Games with Gold games for May 2022. From now until May 15, Xbox Live Gold subscribers can claim Hydro Thunder Hurricane and Yoku's Island Express. Hydro Thunder Hurricane is an XBLA racing game that earned mostly positive reviews at the time of its original release, whereas Yoku's Island Express is a well-received platformer with pinball game elements.
Later in the month, Xbox Live Gold subscribers will have even more games to look forward to. From May 16 to May 31, Xbox Live Gold subscribers can claim Viva Pinata: Party Animals, while The Inner World - The Last Wind Monk will be up for grabs from May 16 to June 15.
