Forza Motorsport has confirmed its rumored appearance at Xbox's anticipated Games Showcase next month, and in doing so also unveiled the game's flashy cover cars. As one of Xbox's big three confirmed AAA first party exclusives for this year, Forza Motorsport is the only title still without a release date. Its most recent appearance was at Xbox's Developer Direct in January and while having an impressive showing, it left many fans disappointed with the lack of a firm release date.

Between 2011 and 2018, Xbox's premier racing franchise, Forza, had been annually alternating between its simulation-focused Motorsport series and its arguably more popular open world adventure-focused Horizon counterpart. With the franchise as a whole taking a three-year break after Forza Horizon 4 released in 2018, it made its triumphant return in 2021 with the smash-hit Mexico adventure Forza Horizon 5. Now, with six years between Forza Motorsport 7 and its new title, Turn 10 Studios is revving its engines in preparation for the future of Forza.

On Twitter, Forza Motorsport confirmed that it will indeed appear at Xbox's imminent June 11 Games Showcase. It added that fans will get to see a walkthrough of the game's single player career mode during the next Forza Monthly livestream on June 13.

As part of the same tweet, Forza Motorsport included an image unveiling both of the game's exotic looking cover cars. On the right is a bright yellow 2023 Cadillac Racing V-Series.R and trailing right behind it by about an inch is a blue 2024 Chevrolet Corvette E-Ray. Cover cars of past Forza titles have typically been unveiled at big events like E3, usually coinciding with the initial announcement of the game. Back at E3 2015, Xbox famously dropped a blue Ford GT from the rafters onto the stage for the reveal of Forza Motorsport 6. With that, it's puzzling as to why Forza has relegated the reveal of its new cover cars to a tweet just weeks ahead of Xbox's showcase. It's possible that since Forza Motorsport may be an ongoing platform that will see constant updates for years to come, the launch cover cars may be replaced as new cars and events come to the game, thus rendering the original cover cars less important.

It would be wise to expect a final release date from Forza Motorsport's appearance next month at Xbox's showcase. This will be the title's fourth appearance at a major Xbox event after having been initially revealed in 2020, so closing the show without a solid date for Forza Motorsport would be an even bigger disappointment than it was after the January Developer Direct. Fans of the sim racing franchise only have a few more weeks to wait for another crack at that ever-elusive Forza Motorsport release date.

Forza Motorsport is coming to PC and Xbox Series X|S in 2023.
