Microsoft has now officially unveiled exactly which titles will become available for free during the month of September 2017 for its Xbox Games with Gold program. As usual, the tech company has now given premium subscribers of the Xbox One and Xbox 360's online services four different games to look forward to on the platforms, which will include two titles for the current generation-console and two releases for the last-gen system.

When it comes to the free Xbox One games being offered to Xbox Live Gold members in September, the first title fans should anticipate for inclusion in the program is Turn 10 Studios' racing game Forza Motorsport 5, as it will be free all month from September 1 through September 30. About halfway through the availability of Forza Motorsport 5, the console will receive Night School Studio's mystery-adventure title Oxenfree from September 16 through October 15.

As far as the Xbox 360’s free Games with Gold releases are concerned, a somewhat different breed of titles are being offered, as Vector Unit's boat racing game Hydro Thunder Hurricane will be offered at no cost from September 1 through September 15, while DICE's first-person shooter Battlefield 3 will be given for free from September 16 through September 31. Of course, Xbox One fans can also receive these titles, as they will be playable on the system through its backward compatibility program.

Taking all of this into consideration, while Xbox fans wait until September’s Games with Gold go live at the beginning of next month, Microsoft is still providing the chance to pick up some of its previously available freebies on both the Xbox One and Xbox 360. In fact, some might argue that the Games with Gold for August 2017 provided a more rounded and satisfying set of titles, but at least Microsoft did a decent job at offering releases from various genres yet again.

Xbox's next batch of titles for the Games with Gold program start to become available on September 1, 2017.
