Xbox's Major Nelson has revealed May's line-up of Games with Gold titles, free for Xbox Live Gold subscribers. As is standard with the Xbox Games with Gold program these days, May 2017 will feature two titles for Xbox One and two titles for Xbox 360. Though with digital Backwards Compatibility all four games will run smoothly on Xbox One.

First on Xbox One in May 2017 is the platformer Giana Sisters: Twisted Dreams Directors Cut, which was originally released in 2012. Sister Giana has to delve into the Dream World in order to save her sister Maria from the dragon Gurglewocky. The Directors Cut of the game includes the Rise of the Owlverlord DLC. While this incarnation of the Giana Sisters isn't remotely comparable to the classic Great Giana Sisters, it's still a great platformer with a lot of classic sensibilities. Giana Sisters unlocks May 1 and lasts through May 31.

Next on Xbox One is Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris. Sequel to Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light, which was available on Games with Gold way back in January 2013, Temple of Osiris offers the same style of isometric action-adventure gameplay. Temple of Osiris also offers 4-player co-op, adding an extra layer of fun to the puzzle-solving involved in the gameplay. No word on if any of the game's Season Pass DLC is included, but since it's not mentioned, it's doubtful. Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris unlocks May 16 and lasts through June 15.

Perhaps to make up for the smaller games offered this month for Xbox One, two larger games will be out on Xbox 360. First is Star Wars: The Force Unleashed 2, starring a clone of the original game's Starkiller. This works out perfectly, since the original Force Unleashed title was put out on Games With Gold just this past February. Second on Xbox 360 is LEGO Star Wars: The Complete Saga, so it's a 1-2 punch of Star Wars on Games with Gold this month. LEGO Star Wars does feature co-op, but only online. Star Wars: The Force Unleashed 2 runs from May 1-15, while LEGO Star Wars: The Complete Saga is available May 16 through 31.

Altogether May's Games with Gold titles offers a healthy amount of diversity when it comes to gameplay. There's a lack of competitive multiplayer here, which is odd because it's often a priority each month. Maybe the co-op options will make up for it. In terms of overall quality, though, none of the games are spectacularly reviewed, but they all provide above average experiences and it could always be worse.

Xbox's Games with Gold for May 2017 starts on May 1, with new games rotating in on May 16. Make sure to check out and download April's games before time expires.
